| ~ Elana, the Squalid Queen. |
Elana, also known as the Squalid Queen, is the main antagonist of the Crown of the Sunken King DLC for Dark Souls II. She is the queen of Shulva and the guardian of Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon.
She was voiced by Clare Corbett.
Biography[]
Elana was born from a fragment of Manus, the Father of the Abyss. Like her sisters known as the Children of Dark, Elana ventured into a kingdom to manipulate a king. Her target was the Sunken King of Shulva, an underground city that worshiped dragons, particularly one that the city was built around, a slumbering dragon called Sinh. One day, Sir Yorgh invaded Shulva with the goal to harness Sinh's blood for his own gain. Sinh let out a toxic cloud that annihilated the entire city in poison.
Elana managed to survive the ordeal and immediately sought for vengeance against the outside world. She began assimilating souls of the surviving residents of Shulva and any trespassers that dared to enter the city. She also sings to the alter those seals away Sinh, draining away at the dragon's energy to gain enough power to claim her wrathful revenge.
Elana can be found in front of Sinh's alter in Dragon's Sanctum, beyond the maze with the Blake Drakeblood Knights. When the player approaches her, she tells them to rot (or alternatively that they were not deserving of the mire) and picks up her Wrathful Axe. She attacks by swinging her Wrathful Axe, or when far away fires an array of dark orbs or a firebomb that homes in on the player's movement direction. She may also teleport closer. She can also summon golden variants of monsters, including a group of three skeletons and Velstadt. Once Elana goes down, a passageway emerges from the alter that leads to Sinh.
