Eleanor and Vincent are the main antagonists of the Borderlands 3 DLC campaign Guns, Love and Tentacles. Originally researchers from the Dahl Corporation, Eleanor and Vincent arrived on the planet Xylourgos where they would find the dead Vault Monster Gythian, more specifically, the monster's still beating heart. As the couple researched the heart, they believed they found the secret to immortality, and preying on their love, the heart would begin to slowly corrupt both. After the heart lashed out and imprisoned Vincent within it, Eleanor became obsessed with finding a way to free her husband, diving into the occult and the dark powers of the beast, ultimately forming The Bonded, a cult of maniacal and corrupted followers.
Biography[]
Eleanor and Vincent were a married couple who worked as researchers for the Dahl Corporation, one of the main gun manufacturers in the Six Galaxies. They lead an expedition to the icy planet of Xylourgos, where upon landing they discovered the corpse of a titanic Vault Monster, Gythian. This beast was so massive it was akin to a mountain, with tentacles so large they sprawled across entire landscapes, and while exploring the body, they found that while Gythian was deceased, its heart remained both intact, and beating. As they studied the heart, its corruption began to slowly influence and warp the couple's state of mind, and the two came to the conclusion that the beast's heart was the key to immortality. But as they delved deeper and deeper into the machinations and dark powers the fallen Vault Monster still maintained despite being dead, it would eventually lash out at them, and imprisoned Vincent within itself. Now fully corrupted and mutated by its power, Vincent would be able to momentarily manifest as a spirit, while Eleanor lost almost all her humanity in her own transformation. Obsessed with not finding a way to free her husband so they can be together forever in immortality, she founded The Bonded, a cult of dark worshipers of The Heart, setting forth the event of Guns, Love and Tentacles.
