The Element Hivemind is the overarching antagonist of the ARK: Franchise. It is responsible for kick-starting the game's storyline and many aspects that occur throughout it.
Biography[]
Past[]
Before ARK: Survival Evolved main storyline, it is set roughly in the 23rd-24th Century. Element was discovered by humans, they used it to create many appliances and weaponry, especially weapons of mass destruction (made by mainly Santiago Da Costa).
During said centuries, two factions were formed. The United Forces of Earth (URE) and the Terran Federation (or simply the Feds). These forces had different views on how they wanted Earth to be run, causing a 7-year-war between the pair using Element weaponry, not only causing the death of Santiago, but a massive influx in Element in the air and ground.
As its raw variant polluted the ground below, the URE and Feds joined together to save Earth, collaborating on two projects. The Feds mainly worked on the ARKs, giant orbital space stations with islands, deserts, sprawling caverns, etc. that would descend upon the Earth once Element subsided, called the Reseed Protocol. The URE mainly worked on the Genesis Project, consisting of the creation of the Genesis Colony Ship and Simulation. The Colony Ship would jump to separate systems to find a new planet that humans & animals to rebuild in, while the Simulation was meant to test them.
Both of these projects had two consequences, one for each.
The ARKs were made to land once Element was weakened to a point where it can be collectively purged from the ground, and it never did. For 645-646+ years (possibly 6 times that), Element stayed on the planet, growing so strong to a point where it could create numerous bodies of mass destruction, hence the Titans, and Element's new main "control center", the King Titan. The Genesis Project had a lesser consequence, only taking a mass amount of time to get to its desired planet, which would later be found and known as Arat. However, that would change eventually.
Something in common both these projects have is that they are made with Purified Element. A key difference between the pair of resources is that raw Element is sentient, while Purified Element is controlled by whoever is using it if made correctly. However, this does have a downside, for small particles of Element are released into the air when a product using P. Element is running/being used. While this usually would take years for it to have consequences, but the 7-year-war using Element weaponry between the URE and Feds sped up the process.

Trivia[]
- Purified Element can be seen as a hero who caused an extinction level event by accident.
- It is responsible for creating the 2 projects that saved humanity.
- Despite the Overseers being hostile, they & all ARK main systems eventually glitch throughout time.
- It isn't fully known if it or isn't sentient, all we do is that raw Element is.
- The particles of raw Element being released into the air is likely to not be intentional if it is a living thing.
- It can greatly assist those who wield it, such as crafting TEK items.
- In reality, humans caused the extinction level event using Purified Element, not it in itself.
- It is responsible for creating the 2 projects that saved humanity.
- Element is technically aware of what it is doing.
