The Elements of Doom are a villainous team consisting of humanoid living elements that battled both the Avengers primarily and the Thunderbolts sporadically. Although they began as mutated humans granted powers to control and manipulate elements, later incarnations included pure elements granted humanoid form and sentience. This group consists of about 51 elements.

History[]

The Elements of Doom are an artificial species created by Dr. Vasily Khandruvitch and are anthropomorphic representations of the scientific Elements. The Elements of Doom are each comprised of one of the elements found on the Periodic Table and as a result are incredibly dangerous. These powerful monsters are able to fight against some of Marvel comics greatest superhero teams such as the Avengers.

Originally, the Elements of Doom were mutated humans but later incarnations of the group would show that Dr. Vasily Khandruvitch could also create these monsters from pure elements. In their fist appearance they were able to take over a Russian nuclear power plant and trying to kidnap large numbers of humans. There goal was to use the humans as test subjects to create monster of all the elements found on the Periodic Table. During a battle with the Avengers the Elements decided that they would be ideal test subjects.

Ultimately after capturing a few super heroes the Elements of Doom died when the fusion generator found in the nuclear power plant, was destroyed and the rain of nuclear energy destroyed their atomic structure.

The Elements of Doom would reappear to battle Avengers once again. Dr. Vasily Khandruvitch is incarcerated in the United States after Elements' clash with the Avengers. AIM recreated Elements of Doom and ordered the Elements to silence the imprisoned doctor for his refusal to cooperate with AIM. The Avengers once again battle the Elements as well as to protect Vasily, the very mad genius who once attempted to kill Avengers, from Elements this time around. Vasily provides Captain America the schematics needed to destroy Elements: destabilize the crystalline structure of their brains and the Elements would dissolve. Avengers took the schematics and created a chemical destabilization cannon from salvaged materials. Jack of Hearts, a member of Avengers, blasted the Elementals with the cannon and shut down their brains. The Elementals could not maintain their humanoid shapes, dissolving and all that was left was a bunch of decomposing goop.
