Eli then defended a known murder named Alexi Kusnov who was found not guilty.  John Doe was present at the court hearing and was disguised as a photographer asking the two to get a picture.

Eli who was a friend of Landlord Carmen Bucci,  helped Carmen Evicting the Gonzales family from their home. John was watching this all happened from a distance and this event cause John to go after Gould.

John held Eli Hostage and held him at gunpoint.  John tells him how greedy and corrupted the lawyer was while Gould defended that he was just helping people but John reminded him he only helped those that had benefits. 
 
 
John then takes a knife and tells eli Gould to put a pound of his flesh on the scale.  if he refused he would killed him. then Gould proceed to cut a his skin while screaming in agony.  Eli Gould dies of Blood loss
