Ellie Nixon is a fictional character and supporting antagonist in the BBC British soap opera drama EastEnders. She merely appeared as a major antagonist in 2020.

The character was portrayed by Mica Paris.

Biography

Ellie Nixon first came to Albert Square in Walford, a fictional borough in East London, in late September 2020 when she appeared in Walford General Hospital and met local resident Denise Fox. It quickly emerged that Ellie was the adoptive grandmother of Denise's young son, Raymond Dawkins.

It soon transpired that Ellie is a notorious crime lady whose son Jonah and his wife Lydia had just been killed in a car accident; Jonah and Lydia were Raymond's adopted parents since he grew up as a baby until they died in the same crash which not only killed them, but had also admitted Raymond to hospital as he had been caught in the crossfire. Ellie soon learned that Raymond's father was the square's undisputed hardman and criminal kingpin: Phil Mitchell.

By the time Raymond has recovered, Ellie becomes caught in Phil and Denise's custody battle for their son; Denise decides to let Ellie continue raising Raymond rather than let Phil get custody. Phil soon meets Ellie and attempts to convince her to let him have custody of the child, but Ellie refuses and she later intimidates Phil in another confrontation; not only does she reveal her criminal nature, but Ellie also tells Phil that she knows about his other children Ben and Louise along with the fact that Phil's adopted son Denny had recently died just months ago. This causes Phil to realize that Ellie poses a threat to his family.

Later on, Phil again attempts to get Ellie to let him have custody on Raymond; she agrees in exchange for £150,000 but later changes her mind after Phil can only acquire £80,000 instead of the full amount. When Ben learns about Phil's recent involvement with Ellie, he convinces his policeman boyfriend Callum Highway to request to his superior DI Steve Thompson to investigate Ellie. This is approved and the Mitchells soon learn more about Ellie's criminal activities, including the fact that she is directly responsible for the events leading up to her son's death - as the car accident was revealed to have been caused by Ellie's rivals.

Soon enough, Denise and her lover Jack Branning learn about Ellie's criminal nature. They reluctantly team up with the Mitchells to rescue Raymond from Ellie's custody after Phil convinces Denise that both of their families would be in danger from Ellie. Their plan to get custody of Raymond is successful when Phil arranges for Ellie to be implicated on drug trafficking and blackmails her into surrounding Raymond's custody to him; she relents and departs Walford for good.
