“ | Le'lorinel: I cannot live! I will see justice done! The mere notion of a dark elf walking the surface, feigning friendship and goodness offends everything I am and everything I believe. This dupe that is Drizzt Do'Urden is an insult to all of my ancestors, who drove the drow from the surface world into the lightless depths where they belong. Morik: And if Drizzt retreated to the lightless depths, would you then pursue him? Le'lorinel: I would kill every drow if that power was in my hands. I would obliterate the entire race and be proud of the action. I would kill matron mothers and their murderous raiders. I would drive my dagger into the heart of every drow child! |

Ellifain Tuuserail, also known as Le'lorinel Tel'e'brenequiette, is a major antagonist of R.A Salvatore's The Legend of Drizzt, serving as a minor character in The Dark Elf Trilogy, a minor antagonist of Legacy of the Drow, and the secondary antagonist of the Paths of Darkness Trilogy, in addition to being a major character in the short story Comrades at Odds. She was a moon elf whose entire family was wiped out by the drow during a surface raid. She survived, thanks to rogue drow Drizzt Do'Urden who saved her, but because of the trauma of the raid and her confused memories of it, she blamed him for the death of her mother. As Drizzt became famous as the hero of the north, she took on a different identity and set out to kill him by any means necessary.
Appearance[]
As a moon elf, Ellifain had black hair with pale skin tainted bluish, and eyes that were tainted with gold. Upon taking on her new new identity as Le'lorinel, she cut her hair and began to wear a metal mask over her face wherever she went. She also wore a forest green cloak.
Personality[]
Ellifain was an incredibly broken person. No matter how hard she tried, she could never escape the trauma of the drow raid and could never continue her life because of how it haunted her. When she discovered that Drizzt, a participant of the raid, was considered a hero, her anger led to an obsession with killing him, blaming him entirely for the raid, and deciding to make it her life's purpose to kill him, and not planning to continue living after she finished her task. She was very much insane, dedicating every moment of her life to her vengeance and becoming angry if she couldn't. She would rant to anyone who would listen about her quest and would fly into a violent rage if they suggested that she was misguided.
However, after she died, she was shown the truth, and understood that Drizzt had saved her during the raid. When she met him one final time, she thanked him and forgave him, being calmer than she ever had been in life.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Ellifain was born in the Moonwood, where she lived with her mother and the rest of her family. One night, the elves had a celebration and danced around the woods. Their festivities ended abruptly when a group of drow from the Underdark ambushed the unarmed partyers. During the slaughter, Ellifain watched her mother get cut down. At the same moment, a drow with purple eyes knocked her to the ground and put her mother's body on her so that she became covered in her blood. The purple-eyed drow then leaned down and whispered something that she couldn't understand in her ear. She stayed very still as the drow left, and when she got up, she discovered that her entire family had been killed.
Ellifain was taken in by different Moonwood elves, who did their best to lessen her trauma from the raid with their clerics and wizards. However, the raid continued to haunt her every moment, even though she couldn't remember any specifics but the drow with purple eyes.
One day, a friend of Ellifain's named Tarathiel discovered that a supposedly heroic drow with purple eyes was passing through the Moonwood, and took Ellifain to see him. Upon meeting Drizzt, Ellifain immediately recognized him from the raid and, in a fit of shock and rage, tried to stab him. She was stopped by Tarathiel, who restrained her until Drizzt left. He afterward explained that Drizzt had actually saved Ellifain's life, by knocking her to the ground and covering her with her mother's blood so that the other drow would think that she was dead. However, Ellifain refused to believe it, and swore vengeance on the person she blamed for the death of her mother.
