Elric Kane is the secondary antagonist in the Dexter revival series Dexter: New Blood. He is a trucker working for Kurt Caldwell who carries out various other tasks for him.
He is portrayed by Shuler Hensley who also played Raymond Brantley in Banshee.
Biography[]
Elric first appears during an investigation into the disappearance of Kurt's son Matt Caldwell, who was murdered by Dexter Morgan. Kurt, attempting to cover it up so he can kill Dexter personally, pays Elric to use Matt's credit card in New York City in order to misdirect the police. Elric uses Matt's card to stay at the five-star Gramercy Hotel. Iron Lake Police Chief Angela Bishop and true crime podcaster Molly Park go to Gramercy to speak to "Matt" but find he checked out the previous night. Angela forces the hotel clerk to let her view the CCTV footage and finds that she does not recognize Elric, tipping her off that Kurt lied about Matt being in New York.
Elric later appears when Dexter's son Harrison is hired to do some work for Kurt. He washes Elric's truck before Elric pays him $20 to help him load his truck. Afterwards Elric gives Harrison an envelope to give to Dexter, containing a titanium bone screw from Matt's leg as a message that Kurt is on to him. Dexter breaks into Kurt's office to find the second screw but only finds a cheque for $5,000 to Elric.
After having an argument with Harrison at Kurt's truck stop, Dexter is attacked from behind by Elric, who knocks him out and abducts him. Elric drives out into the woods with Dexter in his back seat and calls Kurt to confirm that he has captured Dexter. However, once Elric hangs up he is choked by Dexter and crashes his car into a pole. Dexter manages to untie himself and runs away. Elric shoots after him with his hunting rifle and hits him in the leg, but he still manages to get away. He attempts to use his blood trail to mislead Elric into thinking he crossed the stream, but Elric sees through it and continues pursuit.
Dexter eventually uses his blood trail to lure Elric to the abandoned Roaring Forks Summer Camp as night falls. While Elric searches, Dexter grabs a knife and jumps on him from behind, knocking him down. With a knife to his throat, Elric soon confesses that Harrison is at Kurt's cabin now and Kurt intends to kill him. He then assures Dexter that he was just doing his job and it was nothing personal before Dexter stabs him to death. He later dismembers his body and burns it in the local incinerator.
