~ Stenz's last words.

Emil Stenz is a major antagonist of the 2013 film White House Down. An ex-Delta Force commando seeking revenge against the U.S. government for disvowing him to the Taliban in Pakistan, he leads the right-wing mercenaries group who helped Martin Walker take over the White House.

He was portrayed by Jason Clarke, who also portrayed George Wilson in The Great Gatsby and T-3000 in Terminator: Genisys.

Biography

Born on August 21, 1971, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Emil Stenz was once a former member of the United States Army Delta Force who carried out black ops missions. But he was disavowed and burned on his last mission, leading to his capture by the Taliban, making his involvement out of retribution. Stenz is the only one out of all of his mercenaries who knows the true agenda behind the terrorist attack, nuking Iran rather than getting $400 million from the Federal Reserve. As part of the plan, Emil gets himself and his mercenaries (including Motts and Bobby) to be disguised as video technicians to bomb the White House, sending the local police and secret service into mad confusion. Stenz seized the opportunity, taking a count of all the agents in the White House and marching through the halls with his men, murdering them all.

Stenz became very malicious towards John Cale (the hero and protagonist of the film) after the latter killed one of his friends and fellow mercenaries, Bobby. When Stenz and his army invade the White House, they hold everyone inside hostage, including Emily Cale, the daughter of Cale. Emily has secretly recorded the invasion and posted it on YouTube. When he overhears Emily talking to her father, he captures her and threatens to kill her for exposing them. He tried to kill Cale numerous times throughout the film and wound up fighting him to the death. However, he lost when Cale wrapped a belt of armed grenades around his neck (while screaming for mercy), which detonated, killing him instantly, as seen as a distant explosion on television.

Following the deaths of Stenz and Walker, as well as the other mercenaries, it is later revealed that the Speaker of the House, Eli Raphelson, was the one who hired Stenz and his mercenaries to help Walker formulate the attack on the White House, since Raphelson actually disagreed on President Sawyer's peace treaty and plots to have Sawyer murdered during the attack, as well as Vice President Hammond, so that he can be the new president and destroy the peace treaty. When this was revealed to everyone, Eli gets arrested to face trial from his crimes.
