Emma (Total Drama) has been targeted for termination for the following reason(s): She isn’t a villain. While i know she does want Chase to be in pain, i don’t know if that would be enough for her to be a villain considering she’s a victim in a toxic relationship. Even so, her worst moments are pretty much her being a jerk. Please discuss it on the talk page for this article.

Emma is the tritagonist of the 2023 reboot of the Canadian animated series Total Drama Island, and a supporting character of its second season. She is a member of the Frogs of Death in the first reboot season, a member of Team Rat Face in the second season, and the ex-girlfriend of Chase.

She was voiced by Melanie Leishman.

Personality

While generally friendly, polite and fun-loving, Emma can be incredibly hot-tempered, spiteful, vindictive and petty, especially towards people that she perceives have wronged her regardless of whether this is really the case or not. She notably shows this side of her personality in her interaction with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Chase, who she frequently goes out of her way to hurt or sabotage. Although she's rightfully angry towards him seeing how his selfish, reckless behavior has caused serious problems for her, her extreme measures to make Chase suffer and joy in seeing him in pain arguably make her more of a villain than victim. Although they make up sometimes, it is always because of Emma misunderstanding Chase's intentions. Later in the first season, Emma also starts to treat Bowie this way after learning he voted off Chase when she got back together with him, and instead of listening to his honest advice, ends their friendship and sabotages him in the selfie challenge.

In the second season, she has more moments of being rude and arrogant to her fellow contestants besides Chase. While she was supportive of Nichelle when MK insulted her poor athletic skills in the last season, Emma snubs her when they meet again, believing Nichelle would be the first one to be voted off. After finding out her teammates are choosing the opposites of her given answers, she refuses to help and calls them "jerks" instead of coming to terms with the fact that she didn't know the contestants as well as she expected.

Trivia

• Emma and Chase are the first couple (or ex-couple) to come to Total Drama after having an established relationship in the outside world before the show.
• Although the show rightly depicts Emma as being on the right to despise Chase and not wanting anything to do with him due to how he nearly got her killed, it's possible that there's a darker side in her personality that suggests she isn't as "innocent" as the show makes her look. As she has shown multiple times in the first few episodes that she loves seeing Chase suffer and wants revenge on him as she is mostly the one that causes Chase to get hurt, but even though her anger towards Chase was justified, her actions are not. it's revealed in "The Truth, The Pole Truth and Nothing but the Truth", Chase hurt both Emma's uncle and mother when Emma lists reasons to hate him, but surprisingly, she never considered to leave him until he endangered her own life, which could hint some self-centeredness.
  • On the other hand, it might've simply been Emma trying to convince herself that Chase meant well in all of those cases until the one time in which he clearly did not, and that particular time served as the straw that broke the camel's back for her.
