Emma is a professional wrestler currently competing in WWE, doing so on NXT and on the main roster. Before joining WWE, Emma competed in several independent promotions, including SHIMMER.
Emma debuted in WWE in 2012 and competed in a losing effort against Audrey Marie on November 28. After that, Emma was tested out as a villainess, with her gimmick being that of a clumsy, bad dancer. Part of her character had Emma believing that she's a good dancer and being upset at fans jeering her. After a couple of matches as a heel, Emma's dancing actually made her popular with fans, so she was turned babyface as a result.
Emma returned to NXT on January 28, 2015, claiming that things "didn't work out for her" on the main roster, and was defeated by Carmella on the following week. Emma began turning into a villainess in a backstage segment with Bayley on March 4, doing so when Bayley asked if she wanted to watch Charlotte's NXT Women's Championship rematch against Sasha Banks. Emma responded that Bayley should have been in that match, but she lost at NXT Takeover: Rival, and also chided her for giving "high 10s" to the fans and hugging everyone. Emma also said that her own niceness didn't get her anywhere; claiming that it got her demoted to NXT. Three weeks later on NXT, Emma again confronted Bayley and rubbed in the fact that she lost to Becky Lynch, saying that it was because she was too nice. She also accused the fans of "lying to her" and "fooling her" and saying that they will do the same to Bayley and they're not going to get her anywhere. Bayley argued that the fans are why she was #1 Contender for the NXT Women's Championship on two occasions, but at that moment, the evil Emma slapped Bayley and left the locker room, continuing to display her villainous persona. A week later on NXT, Emma was defeated by Bayley in a singles match. Emma spent the match attempting to convince Bayley to become aggressive, and after her defeat, Emma was left upset despite Bayley consoling her.
