~ Emperor Daibazaal ordering Prince Sincline to kill Princess Fala. |
Emperor Daibazaal (ダイ・バザール大帝王) is the main antagonist of the anime series Beast King GoLion. He is the tyrannical ruler of the Galra Empire who seeks to conquer the universe, and a sadistic warlord who uses his subjects and even his own son, Prince Sincline, as his scapegoats whenever he fails.
He was voiced by the late Kōsei Tomita.
Personality[]
Daibazaal is a tyrannical warlord who thrives on war and conquest. He prefers scheming over direct fighting, always issues orders to his minions and expects them to succeed. Even his mother, Honerva, is nothing more than a servant of his, who he heavily relies on for advice, although he doesn't know that she's his mother for some reason. If his plans fail, Daibazaal would blame his minions instead of admitting that he's responsible. It appears that he's also a coward, as he never dares to go out to fight himself, apart from an attack in the finale.
Daibazaal likes to capture the survivors of his conquered worlds as slaves, and even goes so far as to rape one to give birth to Sincline, who he abuses without mercy. He also killed Sincline's mother when she begged him to free the other prisoners, and lied to the latter that she died giving birth to him, effectively pinning the blame for her death on the prince. It's thanks to this that Sincline becomes more unstable over time and eventually betrays and overthrows Daibazaal himself.
Biography[]
Past[]
The illegitimate child of the previous emperor and Honerva, Daibazaal became the Emperor in the early 17th century. At some point in his life, he used Planet Amazon's flowers to prolong his own life. By 1984, Daibazaal began conquering the Dark Nebula, conquered several planets and captured its survivors as prisoners, among them being an Altean woman who would give birth to his son, Sincline. He would then kill her when she begged him to free the other prisoners, and lie to Sincline that she died giving birth to the latter.
At some point, Daibazaal's mother Honerva became his witch servant and gave him advice many times, although strangely, Daibazaal never knew of their family connection.
Beast King GoLion[]
In 1999, upon learning about a thermonuclear war on Planet Earth, Daibazaal captures the survivors, among them being five students of the Fuji Space School. The students escape and bring back the robot Golion, forming the Golion team, and defeat the Deathblack Beastman sent to aid Sadak, a general sent by Daibazaal himself to recapture them.
After failing to destroy Golion twice, Daibazaal plots to assassinate its pilots, and successfully has Shirogane Takashi killed by Honerva and Beastman Galcia, but Galcia is killed in the process. Princess Fala, a surviving member of the Altean royal family, becomes the robot Blue Lion's pilot and destroys Beastman Mogyula. After this, Daibazaal orders several attempts to destroy Golion, including promising the freedom of the Earthlings to a slave if Lisa agrees to help him.
A year later, Daibazaal orders Sadak to be executed for his failures. However, Sincline, who has just returned from his conquest of the Great Goering Nebula, requests for Sadak to be converted into a Deathblack Beastman and fight Golion, to which Daibazaal agrees and sends Sadak and Sincline to the mission. Unfortunately for the Emperor, Sadak is then killed in the battle. Daibazaal would then personally oversee the testing of an interstellar cannon that can fire faster than light on Planet Mura, but the Golion team manages to intervene and destroy the cannon. Later, Daibazaal orders Sincline to marry Princess Sahlia of Galleria, to which the prince refuses due to his obsession over Princess Fala for resembling his mother. Sahlia then fakes her death to help Sincline to abduct Fala, to which the Golion team once again thwart. Sincline then challenges his father in a duel and loses.
At one point, Daibazaal uses the Space Wolf to trap Golion, and then attacks Altea. However, it fails thanks to the intervenation of goddess that originally cast Golion down to Altea.
After the seven worlds, including Altea, form the Leo Alliance to go against Galra, Daibazaal sends assassins to kill their world leaders and sends the spy Saint to help Sincline recapture the Interstellar Ion Cannon. The mission succeeds briefly, but then Sincline loses the weapon. As a result, Daibazaal himself leads his army to destroy the cannon, but Castle Gradam transforms into a spaceship and thwart the mission. Upon returning to Galra, Sincline has him arrested and forced to pilot a mecha beastman in his image to fight Golion. Although successfully damaging the robot, Daibazaal is then killed in the fight.
