Yes...Yes...it is just as I have foreseen...She is on another bus...And I am on THIS one! Heh heh heh...You pathetic rule-followers have given up your Lukes and your Obi-Wans and even your Yodas. You don't even have any of your precious little origami papers...And now I AM THE ULTIMATE POWER ON THIS BUS!
~ Emperor Pickletine gloating

Emperor Pickletine is the titular secondary antagonist of Emperor Pickletine Rides The Bus, the final book in the Origami Yoda series. He is a finger puppet likeness of Emperor Palpatine made of an origami robe and a pickle slice for a face. Harvey created him to bring on the school field trip to Washington D. C.

history

Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus

When Principal Rabbski makes the decision to ride on a different bus than Tommy's and Dwight's bus buddy group, Harvey says that it gives him a brilliant idea. This idea turns out to be making Emperor Pickletine and sneaking him onto the bus.

On the bus, Harvey pulls Emperor Pickletine out of his underwear and introduces him to his bus buddies. Tommy, Kellen, Mike, Lance, and everyone else tries to remind Harvey of Rabbski's rule about not having any origami on the trip, but Pickletine reminds them Rabbski is not here to enforce her rule.

Pickletine continues to annoy the rest of the students on the bus for the rest of the trip. When the kids see a Johnny Appleseed statue, Pickletine (and Harvey) refuse to look because they think it's just part of a "Made You Look" game. Pickletine goes so far as to call Amy foolish, and Amy tries to crumple Pickletine up. Pickletine gloats about how he-and Harvey-won the game, until Tommy shares a picture that proves the Appleseed statue was for real.

After the students' fiasco in the Air and Space Museum, they are shifted to Mr. Howell 's group and have to ride home on his bus. Because of Rabbski's and Howell's strict rule enforcement, Harvey is forced to keep Pickletine hidden. However, he brings Pickletine back out while he is ranting to Tommy about how "The Twist" was played at Wendy's. Harvey eventually punches Tommy in the face, causing Rabbski to come back and investigate. Tommy, on the advice of Fruitigami Yoda, covers for Harvey and bails him out of trouble. Tommy and Harvey reconcile, and Harvey crumples up Emperor Pickletine.

trivia

  • Many fans of the book series had been requesting Tom Angleberger to write a book featuring an origami version of Emperor Palpatine (Papertine's Revenge was a popular title idea). Their wish was granted in Emperor Pickletine's introductory book.
