Biography[]
Background[]
Beatrix was the second-born daughter of Emperor Levo and the younger sister of the elemental master Zeatrix. For most of her life she was jealous of her sister for both being the heir to the throne and for her elemental abilities, feeling that her sister only used them to humiliate and spite her and was convinced that her father overlooked her existence. One day, Lord Ras appeared before Levo and offered to help him find and capture a Source Dragon and drain its energy to obtain ultimate power and enable the Imperium to conquer other Realms. Levo rejected the offer, but Beatrix found her interest peaked and spoke to Ras in secret. After venting about her resentment and sense of inferiority to her sister, she promised Ras that if he helped her take the throne she would help him capture the Source Dragon. Agreeing to her deal, Ras sabotaged Levo's ship and caused it to crash, killing him, and later arrested Zeatrix. The coup succeeded and Beatrix ascended to the throne and made Lord Ras her second-in-command.
Under her rule, Imperium became a totalitarian dystopia where dragons were imprisoned and forcefully drained of their life force to fuel Imperium's technology. Beatrix would also use lies and propaganda to mold the population into a cult of personality built around her, being mindlessly worshipped by the people of the kingdom who were completely oblivious to their ruler's true nature. Those who opposed her directives faced imprisonment or public humiliation. At some point, she and Ras managed to capture a Source Dragon and hold him in captivity underneath the palace while they studied him and learned how to drain his immense energy.
Season 1: Part 1[]
Beatrix engages in a conversation with Lord Ras, who updates her on Lloyd's successful connection with a Dragon Matriarch. In turn, Beatrix reveals that the search for the seven Source Dragons is progressing rapidly. She confidently states that Imperium is on the brink of acquiring sufficient Dragon Power to rule over all the Merged Realms. When Lloyd caused a dragon breakout, Beatrix commanded the Claws of Imperium to use the newly activated Photacs to halt the breakout. Meanwhile, Percival Tartigrade captures Riyu for Beatrix, who confines the baby dragon. Beatrix then informs Lord Ras about Riyu's capture and reveals her intention to completely drain Riyu's life force to devastate the ninja, despite the fact that Ras needed Riyu's energy for his master plan. However, Beatrix iswasleft dissatisfied with the outcome and felt humiliated by the ninja's victorious escape alongside the dragons. After several days had passed, Beatrix summoned Ras and the Claws of Imperium to the grand throne room. It was there that Beatrix made a significant announcement, expressing her newfound indifference towards hunting dragons and instead, her desire to see the ninja eradicated. In a display of her disappointment, Beatrix had Ras apprehended for his perceived failures, taunting him with the knowledge that he would be the sole prisoner within the confines of Imperium Prison, as all the cells were now vacant due to the dragons' escape. Determined to take matters into her own hands, Beatrix activated the Empress Mech, a formidable mech that boasted an impenetrable defense against any Elemental Powers.
Season 1: Part 2[]
Due to the escape of the dragons, Imperium found itself on the brink of an unavoidable energy crisis that Ras had previously cautioned Levo about many years ago. Beatrix dismissed suggestions for resolving the crisis and opted to have Rapton surveil the ninja instead. Upon uncovering the existence of the Dragon Cores, ancient artifacts forged from Source Dragon energy to regulate the MergeQuakes, Beatrix became determined to locate the Dragon Cores before the ninja in order to harness them for the creation of the MergeQuake weapon. She believed that the weapon's activation would result in the victims being completely erased from existence. Following the acquisition of two Dragon Cores, Beatrix faced betrayal from Rapton, who attempted to impede her efforts to activate the MergeQuake weapon. Rapton substituted a fake third core in place of the genuine one, hoping to thwart Beatrix's progress and force her to abandon her mission. However, the fake core unexpectedly triggered an explosion. Dr. LaRow adamantly refused Beatrix's request due to the potential catastrophic consequences of creating a new core infused with pure dragon energy. The risk of such an endeavor leading to an even more devastating outcome than the explosion caused by Rapton was too great to ignore, as it could potentially result in the destruction of the entire kingdom. Fortunately, Beatrix received unexpected assistance from Jordana, who stepped in to aid the Empress by crafting a new Dragon Core using the raw energy extracted from the captive Source Dragon after conducting thorough research and analysis.
During the ninja's attempt to recover the stolen cores, a fierce battle ensued between Beatrix, piloting the Empress Mech, and the ninja along with the Resistance. Beatrix initially gained the upper hand due to the sheer power of her mech, posing a significant threat to her adversaries. However, as time passed, the truth about Beatrix's actions began to surface, thanks to Sora's revelations. The revelation of Beatrix's atrocities towards her people and dragons sparked outrage among the Imperians, leading to a riot as they expressed their disdain by booing at her. Despite the unrest caused by the exposure of Beatrix's dark deeds, the new Dragon Core was created, providing Beatrix with the means to unleash the devastating MergeQuake weapon. Despite the ninja's warning about the catastrophic consequences of the MergeQuakes, Beatrix chose to disregard it and proceeded to unleash these destructive forces indiscriminately. Driven by her desire to maintain her hold on the throne, she declared that she would not hesitate to kill anyone who dared to challenge her authority. The MergeQuakes wreaked havoc on the Imperians, engulfing them in their wake. Not stopping there, Beatrix directed her destructive power towards the ninja, successfully consuming Wyldfyre, Riyu, and Kai in the process. Amidst the chaos, Percival sacrificed himself to save a young girl, only to be sucked into a MergeQuake himself. Beatrix unleashed yet another MergeQuake, this time targeting Rapton. It was during this time that Sora, using her True Potential, managed to destroy the MergeQuake weapon, as well as the new Dragon Core. Despite this, Beatrix defiantly proclaimed that the ninja would never be able to stop her. However, her words were abruptly cut short when a vengeful Arin pushed her into a MergeQuake. Due to Empress Beatrix's actions, the MergeQuake storm had started but was soon stopped by Lloyd Garmadon. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Personality[]
Beatrix is a megalomaniacal and power-hungry egotist. She desires to rule over all the merged realms and has built Imperium's entire culture and way of life around the hunting and imprisonment of dragons, having their lifeforce slowly and painfully drained from them until they die. She also indoctrinates her citizens into worshipping and praising her as the sole cause for Imperium's prosperity, with her people hailing her as the "good empress" almost every time her name is mentioned and having banners of her hung throughout the city. She's also shown to be intolerant towards any perceived disrespect towards her, having any citizens who deviate from her policies in any way publicly shamed or outright imprisoned. She's charismatic enough to make herself out as a tough but fair ruler to her people, praising and rewarding any who help her plans in any way (such as Percival when he captures Riyu for her) to maintain her good publicity. When out of the public spotlight, Beatrix is shown to look down on her citizens as gullible idiots who believe any lie she tells them and is apparently disgusted by the thought of allowing children to hug or touch her.
Her vanity and hunger for power are shown to stem from her jealousy of her older sister Zeatrix. She deeply hates her for having allegedly "stolen" her claim to the throne by being born minutes before her and resents her father Levo for his apparent favoritism towards her. She seems to especially despise Zeatrix for her elemental powers, which she inherited from her father to the degree that she openly hates anyone with similar elemental powers such as the Ninja, labeling them as feeling superior to her because of their abilities despite this being far from the truth. This also implies she's deeply insecure and has an inferiority complex due to not having been born with elemental powers herself, and felt as though she had been overlooked and ignored by her father in favor of Zeatrix, which motivated her to conspire with Ras to assassinate her own father and imprison Zeatrix so she may take the throne which she sees as being rightfully hers despite having done nothing to earn it.
After the Ninja free most of her captive dragons, Beatrix slowly becomes unhinged and vengeful, becoming so fixated on destroying them to avenge her wounded ego that she ignores the energy crisis that befalls her kingdom in favor of harnessing the dragon cores to destroy the Ninja and their loved ones. Her spitefulness eventually escalates to madness when her true nature is revealed to Imperium. Harnessing the raw power of the source dragon imprisoned under her palace to gain a substitute dragon core, she begins wantonly inducing MergeQuakes and opening rifts throughout Imperium, laughing like a madwoman as her own citizens were sucked to their supposed demise, indifferent to the risk of destroying reality itself so long as she destroyed the Ninja in the process.
