The Enderman is a minor antagonist in the 2025 fantasy action-adventure film A Minecraft Movie, based on Mojang Studios' Minecraft franchise.
It's an elongated, enigmatic entity guarding the Illagers' Earth Crystal, which was sought by Henry, Steve, and Garrett Garrison in order to complete the Earth Cube.
Biography[]
Nothing is known about the Enderman's advent, early life, or how it found a role for itself as the keeper of the Illagers' Earth Crystal, but it's quite obvious that it came from The End. It's highly possible, however, that the Illagers simply formed an alliance with it, as their cinematic renditions are implied to have a knack for associating themselves with other Hostile Mobs.
It's first mentioned in a planning scene where Steve, Henry, and Garrett discuss how to infiltrate the Woodland Mansion; Steve creates a somewhat shoddily made and confusing model of the Mansion's contents, alongside an inaccurate model of the Enderman. Using his otherworldly knowledge, however, Steve manages to elaborate upon the Mansion's confusing aspects, revealing that the Earth Crystal, in addition to its guardian, the Enderman, is located in the storage room on the third floor; he then warns Henry of the enigmatic creature's ability to "fry" his "brain." The three then conclude that Henry is to sneak into the storage room while Garrett and Steve serve as distractions for the Illagers.
The trio execute their plan, with Henry and the other two managing to aggravate the Illagers in various ways; Steve and Garrett are then forced to fight the Chicken Jockey in a fighting ring while Henry is chased into the storage room by Vindicators. Henry barricades himself from the axe-wielding maniacs by shutting the door on them; he also begins to rummage around the area, taking loot for himself and simultaneously searching for the Crystal. He eventually finds it, unaware of the entity lurking behind him. The Enderman stealthily moves towards him with its lanky, alien legs. Henry turns around, only to stare into the creature's eyes, getting his brain "fried" in the process. Nothing that crazy actually happens, however; the Enderman simply gives him visions of his friends and relatives berating him. Henry snaps out of his trance and swings the axe he looted from one of the room's chests madly in all directions so as to hit the Enderman no matter where it teleported, as the horrible, decadent thing had begun its unending assault upon his mortal soul. The battle would ultimately be short-lived, with the figure's semblance turning into an Ender Pearl upon its unearthly death.
This Ender Pearl would later prove to be crucial in the final battle between the Overworld's forces and Malgosha's Piglins, serving as a quick method of transport for Henry from the ground below to the lofty Nether Portal, above which the Orb of Dominance was being utilized to blot out the sun.
Trivia[]
- Unlike Endermen in vanilla Minecraft, this one has the ability to induce hallucinations. This may be a reference to Minecraft Dungeons, where Endermen mini-bosses give the player's screen a static-like whenever encountered.
- Vanilla Endermen's eyes have darker pupils, while this one has white pupils. This is yet another similarity to Minecraft Dungeons.
- During the hallucination scene, the Enderman's apparition of Steve has white eyes, a reference to Minecraft's famous Creepypasta, Herobrine.
