“ | Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like "what is beauty?" because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. Fr'instance, How am I going to stop some big mean mother hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer: use a gun. And if that don't work, use more gun. (Blu Scout: My arm!) Like this heavy caliber, tripod-mounted, little ol' number designed by me, built by me, and you'd best hope... not pointed at you. | „ |

“ | This amiable, soft-spoken good ol' boy from tiny Bee Cave, Texas loves barbeque, guns, and higher education. Natural curiosity, ten years as a roughneck in the west Texas oilfields, and eleven hard science PhDs have trained him to design, build and repair a variety of deadly contraptions. | „ |

~ Engineer's official motto |
Dell Conagher, better known as the Engineer, is one of the main protagonists from the 2007 video game Team Fortress 2, serving as one of the nine playable classes.
He is a soft-spoken and amiable Texan with an interest in all things mechanical. He specializes in constructing and maintaining Buildings that provide support to his team, rather than fighting at the front lines. The Engineer's various gadgets include the Sentry Gun (an automated turret that fires at any enemy in range), the Dispenser (a device that restores the health and ammo of nearby teammates) and Teleporters that quickly transport players from place to place.
He is voiced by Grant Goodeve, who also voiced Harlan Wade in F.E.A.R. 3 and Wolf 0'Donnell in Star Fox Assault. However in Expiration date he was voiced by Nolan North.
Biography[]
Born with an ingenious mind and remarkable intelligence, Dell Conagher is the only son of Fred Conagher, the Engineer from the Team Fortress Classic series. In 1968, Dell was hired as a mercenary to fight on either RED or BLU during the Gravel Wars. In 1972, after Gray Mann took over Mann Co, Dell was fired along with the rest of the mercenaries. Shortly after being fired, he disappeared without a trace. As of now, Dell's whereabouts are unknown, even to the rest of his team. Six months later, he began to take care of a now messy-haired Administrator in her secret quarters.
As her life and health began to fail, Dell installed a small life extender machine into her arm so that she could continue to live to settle an "old debt". He would later, install a second and more improved life extender machine (which he called the Mark Five), as the previous one is not working well. Later, he called the Administrator's assistant Miss Pauling, saying that he needs the cache of Australium from New Zealand, which is what the Administrator needs. Dell expressed dismay when Miss Pauling tells him that its in space, having been launched by the Sniper's birth mom Lar-Nah.
Biography[]
Because the Engineer's ingenious devices are under constant threat from explosives and devious enemy Spies, a good Engineer must keep his gear under a watchful eye and repair with them his wrench at all times. When the Engineer needs to get his hands dirty, his trio of generic yet capable weapons, along with the assistance of his helpful hardware, make him more than capable of holding his own in a fight.
If need be, the Engineer can pick up and haul constructed buildings to redeploy them in more favorable locations.
In Expiration Date[]
In the TF2 short film Expiration Date, Dell fears that his teleporters may be causing tumors in his teammates, and experiments with teleporting bread along with the Medic. They later learn that the "tumors" only form in pure wheat, and that they are actually a living organism.
Personality[]
Unlike the other TF2 mercenaries who usually talk loudly, the Engineer is very calm, collected, and soft-spoken, mostly speaking in Western slang, but enough provocation may cause him to start yelling or talking in an angry, and much louder tone. He takes great pride in his buildings, especially his sentry gun, to which he refers it as a "cute little gun". Engineer is strongly supportive and caring of his team, but most importantly the administrator, as when the latter's health began to fail in the coming months, he would do whatever he can to keep her life going so that she may settle an old score.
Powers/abilities[]
Genius-level intelligence: The Engineer is proven to be one of the most adaptive and high class of the entire merc and relies only on creating a multitude of machinery staggeringly rivalling the Medic’s medgun, with keen perception on targeting distant range opponents, The Engineer mentions he has scored eleven phd’s prior to being a mercenary.
