Professor Enoch Bowen is a fictional character from the Cthulhu Mythos series. He first appeared in H.P. Lovecraft's 1936 short story "The Haunter of the Dark" and later appeared in Robert Bloch's 1950 short story "The Shadow from the Steeple".
He was an occultist and archeologist who also founded the Church of Starry Wisdom.
Biography[]
Not very much is known about Bowen since he doesn't physically appear in the books, however, we know that Bowen bought the Free-Will Church and transformed it into the Church of Starry Wisdom around sometime in 1844. Bowen had also come across a sacred relic known as the Shining Trapezohedron in 1843 which he would later use to summon the Haunter of the Dark.
The Church of Starry Wisdom was officially disbanded and driven out of Providence in 1877, but it is currently unknown if Enoch was still the leader of the church at the time.
