Enrique Basurto is a fellow employee from La Costena Company, who loathes Fernando and swears vengeance and won't stop until he's done. He serves as the secondary antagonist of the 2014 Telenovela Mi Corazon es Tuyo.

Enrique Basurto is played by actor and singer Lisardo Guarinos.

Biography[]

Past[]

Years before Mi Corazon es Tuyo began, Enrique Basurto's father (who has the same first name) "Enrique Rojas" owned a factory and offered a deal with Fernando of some tin cans. Fernando rejected the cans because of the bad quality they were. Fernando wanted the product safe for everyone so he rejected the idea. Enrique Rojas lost his factory, ended up broke, and paralyzed, and divorced. This leads to Enrique Basurto hating Fernando and swearing vengeance on Fernando for his dad's sickness.

Mi Corazon es Tuyo[]

Enrique Basurto first appears walking in La Costena building trying to be hired by Fernando to work there. He meets Fanny. Enrique starts to act rude toward Fanny. Isabella (the shows main antagonist) was the one who recommended Enrique. When Fernando goes over Enrique's records he finds him a good worker and gladly hires Enrique. Enrique complains about Fanny to Fernando which Fernando replies "She is my daughter" which Enrique replies "EAT DIRT!" in his mind. It's obvious that Enrique secretly hates Fernando and wants revenge on him for rejecting his dad's deal. Fernando tells Enrique "Welcome to the Company". Enrique later partners up with Fanny, who later develops a creepy crush on her. It is soon revealed that Isabella and Enrique are ex-lovers and have known eachother from Harvard. Enrique then seduces other women in the process including Betty (the secretary from their company.) Betty does have feelings for him but Enrique doesn't care a shit for her, who also closes the door on Betty's face when she tries to go in his apartment while Enrique and Isabella were having a moment alone. Enrique confronts Leon (Fanny's boyfriend) to tell him to stay away from Fanny. Enrique continues his weird flirting with Fanny telling her that Leon doesn't deserve her and that she needs a real man. At Jenny and Don Nicholas's wedding Enrique and Fanny confront each other and grabs her arm. Ana sees what's going on and confronts Enrique. She threatens Enrique to let Fanny go and that he's an imbecile, that Fernando can kick him out of the company. Fanny and Ana walk off together while Enrique says "You have no idea who you are messing with Ana Leal" After that Enrique spots Mau (Leons son) by a water fountain outside the wedding. Enrique seizes him and Leon tells Enrique "What are you doing with my son!" Enrique replies "He's cute" Enrique and Leon confront eachother and Enrique pulls out a gun at Leon. Enrique says that Leon's family will be the first ones to pay. Enrique the leaves. Fanny tries to avoid Enrique. Fernando notices and asks what is wrong? Fanny tells his dad (Fernando) everything about Enrique's intentions with her. Fernando, angered, goes to Enrique's apartment and confronts him and asks for Enrique's resignation from the company. Enrique and Linda (a female worker from the same company who also hates Fernando) team up along with Isabella to destroy Fernando. Enrique and Iinda later post a fake photo of Ana and Fernando kissing online to the whole public which causes more problems. Enrique then seduces Laura (Fanny's friend) and offering her sex money for her university. Enrique's dad is getting worse and runs to the hospital to see him. Enrique wants Fernando to accompany him which Fernando does. Eventually, Enrique becomes the new president of La Costena which turns the company into a failure. Enrique's father is getting worse and worse until he dies on the hospital bed which devastates Enrique. This makes Enrique more and more vengeful and swears that Fernando will pay. Later on, Fernando and Diego fight over Ana and their father Don Nicholas gets a heart attack and is sent to the hospital. Enrique and his henchman Jeronimo meet in the hospital bathroom and asks if Jeronimo can acquire some potassium chloride to inject Fernando's father. At 4:00 AM, Enrique enters Nicholas's room disguised as a doctor. He flashbacks the time his own father, Mr. Rojas, died on his hospital bed. Enrique says "Your son killed my dad, now it's your turn. Just as Enrique is an inch away to inject him, Don Nicholas wakes up and wrestles Enrique's arm. Enrique drops the needle. Fernando comes in the room seconds after that. Enrique gets out of the room. Fernando didn't know who it was. Fernando notices the needle and puts the cap back on. Later on, Isabella visits Enrique's apartment and tells him he's doing a terrible job as president of the company. Isabella wants the company to run healthy again but this rages Enrique and he strangles Isabella.

Isabella manages to tell Enrique that the baby is his which makes Enrique let go of her. This makes Enrique bright up and touches Isabella's stomach. Isabella then pushes Enrique and he falls toward a drawer and a bottle of wine falls on his head. The paramedics take Enrique to the hospital. Enrique is in a coma but soon wakes up and tries to escape but then goes in a coma again. Enrique then suffers a mental sickness where he talks with his father. Enrique then is sent to the mental side of the hospital. His ghost father tells Enrique to escape the hospital. Enrique denies that but then sees his doctor's keys.

Enrique's thirst for blood and revenge[]

Later on, the asylum doctor comes to give Enrique some medications. Enrique kills the doctor by banging his head toward a drawer and breaking his neck. Enrique Rojas (Ghost Father) tells Enrique to change into the doctor's clothes and leave quickly. Enrique places the dead doctor on his bed and takes the keys to escape the mental hospital.Later that night, Enrique kidnaps Isabella outside her apartment door and takes her to an abandoned building and locks her in a cage which was probably around 9:00-10:00 PM or even 11:00 PM since Yolanda (Isabella's mom) was worried that Isabella hasn't come home yet and even stated the hour was really late. One of the nurses notice the dead body and realizes that Enrique escaped. Torres informs Fernando that Enrique escaped and killed a doctor. Isabella soon wakes up and is shocked to see Enrique. Isabella questions him that he should be in the asylum. Enrique proudly tells her he escaped. the baby and if the baby is really his. The next day, Torres (the company's financial officer) and SWAT break in the building and find Isabella passed out in the cage but Enrique is gone. Isabella, now recovered, is traumatized about what happened. !!!!WE HAVE A KILLER ON THE LOOSE!!!!!! Enrique swears vengeance on everybody who have hurt him. The first person on his list was Isabella but then changes his mind cause of the baby. Later on, Enrique spies on Fanny on campus at school incognito, with a dark cloak on. Later on, Enrique follows Fanny in the restroom in a restaurant, possibly planning to kill her. Enrique is outside the stall and Fanny gets scared to death seeing Enrique inches to her face when she opens the door. She immediately closes the door. Two teen girls go in and see Enrique and tell him to leave since he is in the girls bathroom. Enrique says sorry and leaves. Enrique passes by Lenin. Later on, Enrique follows Mauricio and Margarita (Leon's mom) to their house. Enrique is now stalking their home and swears vengeance. Later that night, Margarita sends Leon for some pastries and as soon Leon goes outside the house gates he gets attacked by Enrique who obviously has been standing there for hours waiting for Leon to come out. Enrique stabs Leon and tells him "Tell Fanny that she's next on the list" Enrique pulls the knife (later said to be an ice-pick) from his stomach and leaves Leon injured outside the house. The next day, Enrique kidnaps Dr. Saldana (Isabella's doctor) and forces the doctor to tell him the truth about Diego Nicholas's father.

The doctor reveals to Enrique that Fernando isn't the father which makes Enrique smile. Enrique then kills the doctor offscreen. Later that day, Enrique calls Isabella on a payphone and tells her that the baby isn't Fernando's and is in fact Enrique's. Enrique plans to take the baby from her since he feels that Isabella doesn't care for the baby since it's currently staying at Fernando's house. Enrique then turns around and sees a police car and then hangs up and leaves, later that day, Enrique is walking on the street talking with his imaginary father. The father tells Enrique that he is the father of little Diego and that he needs to make little Diego a proper man. The next day, Enrique plans to break into the Lascurain house at night. He hides in a tech van in front of the house while one of the security guards supervises around the van. He then lurks around the back door in the garden shed. Enrique goes through the kitchen door and lurks up Ana's bedroom and carries Diego Nicholas. This psychopath was apparently really sneaky to not be seen by a body guard team supervising the house (the security guards were dumb anyway). Luz (the youngest female daughter of Fernando) wakes up and scarily sees Enrique holding little Diego. Enrique shushes Luz to be quiet. Luz scarily runs to get Ana. Ana is in the kitchen. Luz tells Ana that there is a man in her room, Ana ,worried, calls the body guards. The body gaurds check Ana's bedroom gunpoint. Enrique heads out and is seen by the gardener. Enrique puts him in sleeperhold. Enrique then grabs a shovel. He is then seen by a security guard. Enrique slams the shovel at the gaurd's face. Fernando is angered that Enrique broke in. He orders Torres to hire a commando to locate Enrique. The next day, the commander team inform Fernando that they placed Enrique wanted poster all over the city. Enrique spies on Fernando's kids on school campus and says "What better vengeance for Fernando that would affected one of his kids." Weeks go by and Enrique is still on the loose. Enrique sees his wanted poster and rips it up saying "They're never going to find me".

Ana is hailing a taxi to take her to 'Johnny's Pole Dance Workshop". As the taxi drives away Enrique appears and hails a taxi too. Enrique tells the taxi driver to follow Ana's taxi. As she arrives at her destination, Ana gets out of the taxi and unlocks the door to the workshop and goes in. Ana doesn't notice Enrique's taxi pulling next to her. Enrique hops out of the cab and the cab drives off. He looks around to make sure he isn't being watched. Enrique flashbacks the time Ana confronted Enrique at Jennifer and Nicholas's wedding. When he's done flashbacking Enrique says "I told you that you were going to pay me, Ana" and sneaks into the workshop pulling out a weapon. Ana turns on the lights in the gym and gets ready to train. Ana doesn't realize Enrique entering the room. Enrique stands in the doorway of the gym and captures Ana from behind, holding a knife to her neck. Enrique then ties her hands to a pole whilst he tells Ana about the time she confronted him about Fanny and killing Ana would be good revenge on Fernando since Fernando loves her. Ana tries to calm Enrique down. Enrique tells Ana that she will soon die. Ana pleads him to not kill her because Fernando's kids need her but Enrique doesn't care a shit. At the same moment, Fernando and the body guards pull up near the workshop. Fernando hops out and the body guards follow him but Fernando tells them he's going in alone. Fernando goes straight in the building. Since he just wants to talk to Ana, Fernando doesn't know about Enrique inside the workshop. If he knew there was danger in going in he probably would have ordered the guards to come in with him but doesn't. Enrique tells Ana to say goodbye to the world, but Fernando walks in the room in the nick of time. Fernando see's what's going on and tells Enrique to let Ana go and to take him instead. Enrique's ghost father orders Enrique to not listen to Fernando and to take vengeance now! Enrique cries and explains that he has spent years planning his revenge. Fernando smartly plays along and talks to the father ghost. Fernando says "I'm really sorry for that abrupt decision, Mr Rojas!, I swear that I didn't know, I didn't know!!!! The Enrique Rojas ghost denies that and Enrique walks over to where his imaginary dad is standing which gives Fernando the chance to free Ana from the tube. The ghost tells Enrique to tell Fernando the truth about little Diego and then kill Ana and Fernando.

Death[]

Enrique turns around and is ready to finish off Fernando yelling "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY FERNANDO!" Fernando yells at Ana to get out and that Arroyo (one of the security guards) is outside. Enrique bashes his knife toward Fernando telling him that he has a secret to tell him. Fernando pushes Enrique to a pole. Enrique crashes to it. Enrique charges Fernando with the weapon but Fernando holds back Enrique's arm and pushes him back causing Enrique to drop the knife. Enrique kicks Fernando with his knee and gets the knife from the ground. He again charges Fernando with the knife. Fernando holds back Enrique again. Enrique says "I have a little secret I want you to know Fernando" with the knife inches to Fernando's face. Fernando (who is seemingly stronger) again pushes back Enrique toward a pole. Enrique bounces off the tube and falls on the ground and accidently falls on his knife.

Just seconds after that the 2 of the body guards run in and check on Enrique. Arroyo informs Fernando that Enrique died and calls the Ministry Public. Fernando is sweating and feeling guilty about what happened and says he should have helped Enrique's father with the cans if he knew what happened to him. Ana consoles him, wiping his face, telling him that the cans were bad quality and that Fernando just wanted to help the consumers, families and the people, and that Enrique provoked it all. Arroyo gets off the phone with the police telling Fernando that Ministry Public will soon arrive to pick up the body and that they have nothing to worry about, but that the police want to talk to Ana and Fernando.

The Enrique incident spreads over la Costena. Betty informs Isabella that Enrique is dead. Isabella worries if Enrique said anything about little Diego. Isabella goes to the workshop and confront Ana and Fernando outside. Isabella demands to know what happened in there and what did Enrique say. Fernando and Ana are puzzled. What does Isabella care what he said? (Actually, she needs to care) Fernando simply says "Nothing, just what you have told me, Enrique wanted revenge on me for what I did to his father, that's all." Isabella demands to know if Enrique said anything else. Fernando tells her "NO!, he didn't say anything else." Later that night, Isabella pays Enrique a visit in the morgue. Isabella looks at Enrique's body and thinks he's ugly. Isabella creepily tells Enrique "Look where you ended up Enrique. Remember our times at Harvard. How I was so attracted to you. How we planned it out, getting me in the company, seduce Fernando, oh Enrique, I think those were happiest years of my life. Good that you didn't tell Fernando that you were the real father of Diego Nicholas. Now no one will know. You even did me the favor of killing my doctor. Now, my son will live his entire life knowing that Fernando is his father." Isabella gives a small slap at Enrique's dead face. She then says "I hope it's so hot in hell, Enrique Basurto, you ended horrible Enrique, HORRIBLE" Isabella then leaves. However, Diego (Fernando's brother) discovers the truth and tells Fernando. Fernando, angered, goes to confront Isabella about Enrique being the real father of Diego Nicholas. Fernando says "SO YOU AND ENRIQUE WERE LOVERS, HUH!" WHY DID YOU EVEN RECOMMENDED HIM TO ME!!! YOU WERE ALWAYS COLLUDING WITH THAT GUY!! ALWAYS!!!!! Fernando takes custody of Diego Nicholas. Now with Enrique out of the way, the Lascurain family is safe from him. But Isabella still has plans to destroy Fernando and Ana's marriage.

Appearance[]

Enrique is a man, with short black hair who wears different kinds of fancy suits to work or parties. When he is in a coma he wears a blue hospital gown and later a long white gown. When he escapes the mental hospital he steals his doctor's clothes which is a white shirt and white pants. Enrique's face seems to change. He now has white hair and a short white beard is visible and has a more scruffy look. When he is on the loose as a killer, Enrique wears a black fedora hat, a dark overcoat, black shoes, and black pants allowing him to hide in the shadows.

Personality[]

Enrique is shown to be a cruel, evil, angry, dangerous, ruthless, embittered, and devious man. Enrique pretends to get along with Fernando and as soon as Fernando turns away Enrique makes an angry and vengeful face or says a devious statement in his mind. Enrique does care for his dad and wishes him to not be paralyzed.

Trivia[]

Enrique Basurto is played by Lisardo Guarinos, who is known for portraying antagonists in many soap operas.
It is unknown how Enrique knew that Leon would be leaving the house in that exact moment. It's most likely he was preparing to stay outside the house gates all night waiting for him to come out.
Lisardo Guarinos stated "It has been hard to play Enrique Basurto. Dyeing my hair brown to make the character more younger wasn't my idea but work is work. I'm happy about giving life to Enrique Basurto."
Mi Corazon es Tuyo is shown to be tame and a family friendly comedy but when Enrique is around the story gets darker and violent.
Enrique Basurto is the second antagonist, Isabella being the main antagonist of the show, while Doroteo being the third antagonist.
In the earlier episodes Enrique was clean shaved and had short dark hair. In the later episodes he has white short hair and a short white beard. It is unknown how his appearance changes like this so fast. It could be of all the stress he has.
Lisardo even stated that his character will have dark hair until his last appearance and after the show ends he will return to his gray hair, which isn't the case
Though Enrique isn't part of the main cast (that goes to Fernando, Ana, and Isabella) he still plays a crucial role in the show.
Enrique was given a scarf for christmas in the hospital and was happy about it but the scarf is never shown again and Enrique didn't take it with him when he escaped.
Despite seducing and killing, Enrique has a unique talent of singing. He sings opera with a fluent voice.
It's unknown why the body guards didn't check to see if Enrique's knife didn't have Fernando's fingerprints. But since Fernando never touched the weapon during the fight, and it wasn't his weapon to begin with, he can't be blamed for murder.
It's unknown how Enrique got his fedora hat and dark overcoat. It's possible that he found it lying around or stole it.
It is possible that Enrique murdered Fernando's former wife and the 7 kids real mother, Estefania Diez de Lascurain, before she died from her sickness.
