The Entity is the main antagonist of the RPC Authority mythos. It is a mysterious god-like figure that destroys every civilization that become too advanced to keep a balance of power within the universe. To do so, it utilizes a cathedral (classified as RPC-840-4) that will release a deadly spore infection (classified as RPC-840-5) and summon some entities (RPC-840-8, RPC-840-9A and RPC-840-9B) to aid in the extermination.
Personality[]
Since the Entity is never seen directly its personality is mostly unknown, with even the RPC Authority saying that it can't be understood with current human knowledge. That being said, the Entity clearly considers the balance of the universe extremely important and will not hesitate to use all-but-pleasant methods to exterminate the offending civilization to restore the balance.
Biography[]
The Entity has likely been around for a very long time, maybe even since the very beginning of the universe. RPC-840-4 has likely exterminated other civilizations before targeting the Venusian species (classified as RPC-840-1), causing the extinction of the entire civilization (with the apocalyptic even in itself being classified as RPC-840-2) but two members: Adam and Eve (classified as RPC-840-6 and RPC-840-7 respectively), who were able to escape on Earth via the Chicxulub asteroid (which is the same asteroid responsible for the dinosaurs' extinction and is classified as RPC-840-3) and somehow start the human species.
RPC-840-4, RPC-840-5, RPC-840-8, RPC-840-9A and RPC-840-9B currently all reside on Venus, although they might be relocated on Earth if humanity becomes too advanced.
Creations[]
- RPC-840-4: A massive structure resembling a cathedral constructed from the remains of an unknown species.
- RPC-840-5: An infectious disease released by RPC-840-4. It's similar to a modern-day fungal infection, with multiple tumorous spores spreading to and from the body, inanimate objects and the surface of the planet.
- RPC-840-8: An entity resembling a doorway with a modern-day pyrotechnics mask. Anyone who comes into proximity of RPC-840-8 will be terminated as they will be unable to escape the grasp the entity has on them.
- RPC-840-9A: A large porcelain entity similar in appearance to RPC-840-8, except for the fact RPC-840-9A hovers above the surface of Venus. It seems to pose no immediate threat.
- RPC-840-9B: A humanoid entity that moves RPC-840-9A via a rope. It wanders aimlessly and is seen emanating random distressed calls.
Trivia[]
- It's possible that the Entity is also responsible for the creation of RPC-950 since the latter was spotted nearby RPC-840-4.
- The existence of some aliens (such as the Soshi Slave Empire) in the main canon contradicts everything surrounding the Entity since these aliens are clearly more advanced than a Type II civilization, yet haven't been exterminated by the Entity. What's more is that this isn't acknowledged at all in-universe.
- This is likely because many people in the RPC community actually don't like RPC-840 since it greatly limits what kind of extraterrestrials can be written in the main canon, with some people deciding to not acknowledge it at all.
- One of the reasons the alternate canon Cosmic Embers exists is exactly because of this: to allow writers to be much less limited with writing aliens.
- This is likely because many people in the RPC community actually don't like RPC-840 since it greatly limits what kind of extraterrestrials can be written in the main canon, with some people deciding to not acknowledge it at all.
- Because of what's been mentioned above, the RPC community is thinking of making the RPC-840 article non-canon. Should this happen, the Entity wouldn't count as the mythos' main antagonist anymore.
