Eric Carcani is the overarching antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode “Final Shot”. Carcani is an international military official and heartless domestic abuser who retains one of his former colleagues, Colin Bramwell, to kill to cover up Carcani’s crimes.
He was portrayed by Paul Lacovara in an uncredited appearance.
Biography[]
Carcani, an Albanian citizen, worked in the RENEA special forces division, being dispatched to Mombasa to collaborate with Colin Bramwell, a South African elite soldier, in 2008. The two maintained contact by unspecified means, and Carcani retired to the U.S. at age 23 for his education. He worked his way to vice president of the Black Cross private military contractor and married a woman named Maya, but the marriage was mired by Carcani regularly beating Maya.
She escaped him with the help of a battered women rescue organization, and they hid her away for her own protection. When Carcani found out the truth, he hires Bramwell to track her down, ordering him to kill every one of the members of the rescue organization until he reached Maya to punish her for leaving him. As Carcani was participating in a Houston training seminar and Maya was hiding in Dallas, he had an alibi to cover his tracks. Coincidentally, the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination in Dallas was approaching the day Bramwell’s first murders were to occur.
In the span of a day Bramwell has swiftly gone on a targeted shooting spree that killed nine people, two women being the intended victims from their affiliations with the organization that saved Maya. When the women’s connections are revealed, knowing the killer has military training, the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) instantly suspect Carcani, but they know he paid a hired gun because he has an alibi.
As he is returning to Dallas from his trip, Agents Derek Morgan and Jennifer Jareau go to his office to question him. He sees the agents with his secretary and runs, firing his sidearm at the agents to stave them off. In a twist of fate, Carcani is struck and killed by a bus when he runs out onto the street. When Morgan leans over Carcani and demands to know where Maya is, Carcani just smirks before he dies. The agents know Carcani personally knew the killer, find out Bramwell is the hitman, and follow the same trail to the hotel where Maya is hiding. Bramwell is shot dead just before she can murder her.
