Eric Maniego is a minor antagonist in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
He is a psychotic serial killer and taxi driver. He targets young adult women and mistresses in his schemes, as he noted that they are a horrible minder of his tragic past with his abusive stepmom whenever his madness reach to the breaking point.
He is portrayed by Paulo Avelino and Grae Fernandez (young).
Background[]
Born in a middle class nuclear family, he always lived peacefully until his father cheated on his mom who committed suicide by overdosing herself of drugs and got remarried to Merly. His life changed when his stepmom constantly abuses him with his elder brother. Eventually tired of his stepmom’s maltreatment he resorted stabbing her in the stomach, ended up mentally deranged due to trauma.
He was later sent in a mental institution and eventually released him, then start a taxi corp business with his brother. Despite of taking him in mental institution, his psychosis still brings back wherein he stabs his female passenger reminding him of his horrible past with his stepmom. He was once arrested at some point, after being complained presumably his madness has once again reached his breaking point or drunk making him violent. He was eventually caught by his brother after stabbing another passenger. Witnessing Eric’s mental breakdown, Edwin chose to protect his crime instead by attempting to dispose the corpse of the victim. However, his brother was later caught by Cardo ended up losing his life after attempting to shoot back to escape Cardo.
Upon learning his brother’s death he went berserk and hatched a plan to avenge his brother’s death by pretending to be a mentally handicapped teenager named as Erwin to make contact with Cardo with his family and eventually kill them. His identity was later confirmed upon authorities have investigated his documents and interrogating his drivers in his corp. Cardo and the authorities later raided Cardo’s house believing that he is still there, but then escaped and abducted Alyanna in his home as his bait to defeat Cardo. Cardo later raided his home, and their duel started by playing hide and seek until eventually showed himself beating Cardo. Their duel ended when he attempted to stab Cardo but Cardo resisted making stab himself in the stomach to death similarly how he stab his stepmother where his life of crime started.
Personality[]
During his youth, he was always a loving and caring child whom showed love to his parents and elder brother. However, after his father womanized and his mother committed suicide he resented his father upon blaming his mother’s death but eventually forgave him before death. Shortly after his father’s death, he suffered extreme psychosis due to the trauma he endured from his toxic family relationships by stabbing her abusive stepmother to death. However, his psychosis was somehow controlled after being sent to a mental institution but was worsened with unregulated checkups. This extreme trauma led him to an instinct of killing women mainly who are involved in adultery as he sees them as a horrible reminder of his tragic past.
Upon establishing business, he is compassionate to his men to the extent that he even invited them to celebrate his birthday making his elder brother disappoint him due to their opposite strategy in running the business wherein his brother is shown to be bossy and arrogant. Despite of having some oppositions with his elder brother, he idolized his elder brother as he sees him as his father figure and legal guardian who have helped him coped up from the trauma he endured in his youth. With the death of his elder brother, his psychosis has worsen making him a vengeful individual where he target Cardo and his family by manipulating Cardo altering his ego as Erwin, an intellectually disabled teenager.

- His psychiatric disorder may be a sign of post traumatic stress disorder, as seen in the series every time his traumatic experience returns in his mind he ends up losing control of his sanity in mind.
- He is the one known psychotic villains in the series alongside with Bungo and Jane. They target a particular type of victim whenever they lose their sanity reminding them of their families’ demise . Bungo particularly attacks policemen for avenging his brother’s death which gave him madness. Jane mutilates men whenever she loses sanity after reminding her horrible and traumatic past with his father.
