Erica Flynn is one of the main antagonists of The Mentalist TV-show. She is a matchmaker, who killed her own husband. She was played by Morena Baccarin.
Biography[]
We first see her when her husband is killed. After the testimony, Patrick realizes that she killed her husband, but she has an alibi. He is able to deduce that the alibi to be fake. She asked a man who was in love with her to switch on the record of her asking questions that she usually asked her clients (and the clients who where questioned that day did not actually see her, they only heared her voiced). Erica herself went to kill her husband because he wanted to sell her business, but she did not. Later, Patrick provokes Erica to tell that she didn't actually love the guy who was creating alibi for her, thus provoking him to testimone that he faked her alibi. Erica was imprisoned for voluntary manslaughter. Later she helps Patrick to solve his another case. During so, she temporarily exists prison. After the case is solved and the murderer is arrested, she is taken away by a guard, but it is later revealed that the guard was fake. Thus she escapes prison. She reappears in the seventh season, where she lures Patrick in another crime case. The point is that cars are being blown up all over the world. A certain Jan Nemec is behind it. He is a Slovak, but he was trained by the Russian mafia. He works for terrorists, supplying them with explosives. His girlfriend is Erica Flynn. She promises to testify against Nemec in exchange for amnesty for her past crimes. Nemec uses couriers with good memories who transport cargo. This cargo is actually a huge list of numbers memorized by the courier. But one of Nemec's couriers died in an accident. Erica does not know anyone who could remember tons of disparate (and seemingly incoherent) information better than Patrick does. Patrick and Teresa Lisbon go to Beirut, where they meet Erica. She tries to ruin their relationship. Soon, Nemec's people contact Patrick. They call him a series of completely incoherent words, while drowning him in the bathtub. After this, Nemec demands that Patrick name ALL the words given to him EXACTLY IN THE ORDER GIVEN. Patrick completes the task and Nemec takes him as a courier. Nemec demands that Jane remember and deliver to address 81 an incoherent number. Patrick guesses that this is an encrypted message. He discovers that one of the books in Nemec's office has the least amount of dust. This means that the message is in it. And the numbers are the page, row and column numbers on which the desired letter is located. Thus, a text of 27 letters is obtained. Soon Jan (not without the help of Teresa and Patrick) is arrested. However, that is not all. Erica wanted to take Jan's money for herself. This is exactly why she arranged for his arrest. But to carry out her plan, she needed Patrick. Therefore, she was forced to kill the courier in order to recommend Patrick as a replacement. But this time Patrick outplays Erica, and she is arrested.
Personality[]
Erica is as smart and charismatic as Patrick Jane. However, unlike Patrick, Erica's mind was used for evil. She killed her husband to take over his business. She killed an unnamed delivery man just to get Patrick's attention. This shows that she has a greedy side. She also actively uses the fact that she is a seductress to her advantage.
