~ Tassig claiming that Mia Van Wagner wanted to perform in his pornography. |
Erich Tassig is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Pandora". He is a hebephile who manipulates adolescent girls into having sex with him and performing in child pornography.
He was portrayed by Lothaire Bluteau, who also portrayed Professor Rousseau in an early episode of SVU.
Overview[]
Tassig is a hebephile who lives in Prague and sexually abuses adolescent girls, grooming and manipulating them into having sex with him and performing in child pornography, which he then streams over the Internet for a profit. He also does business with several other online child pornographers all over the world, including Nicholas Taylor, who runs a New York-based child pornography site that shows him raping his own daughter.
Shortly before the events of the episode, he begins an online relationship with 14-year-old Mia Van Wagner, who lives in New York City. He convinces her to run away to Prague to be with him, using one of his customers to get her a fake passport.
In "Pandora"[]
When FBI informant Meredith McGrath is murdered, Detective Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit investigates and finds out that she had been doing undercover work to gather evidence against Tassig. Assistant U.S. Attorney Claudia Williams and SVU Captain Don Cragen send Stabler to Prague to arrest Tassig and rescue Mia.
Once in Prague, Stabler partners with Europol official Kate Logan, who has been investigating Tassig for months. They find him with Mia, who by now is so thoroughly brainwashed that she allows herself to be arrested so Tassig can get away. Once Stabler tells her Tassig filmed her having sex with him and his friends without her knowledge, however, she is horrified, and tells him where to find Tassig.
Stabler and Logan arrest Tassig at his apartment, and interrogate him about what he did to Mia. He claims that Mia slept with him and his friends willingly because she is an "adventurous woman", and accuses Stabler and Logan of persecuting him. Stabler, unfettered by the U.S. justice system's rules about the treatment of prisoners, beats Tassig until he reveals the names and locations of the child pornographers he does business with; this helps Stabler arrest Taylor, who murdered McGrath in addition to his other crimes, after he returns to the U.S. Tassig, meanwhile, is imprisoned for life in Prague for multiple counts of rape, kidnapping, and possession and distribution of child pornography.
