Ericson is a supporting antagonist of the 1985 film Rambo: First Blood Part II. He is a CIA mercenary who is allied with Marshall Murdock.
He was portrayed by Martin Kove, who also played John Kreese in The Karate Kid franchise.
Background
Ericson was born on April 15, 1956 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in January 1976, where he became a technical sergeant and mechanic for aircrafts, later in 1978, Ericson was assigned to Thai military advisory in Bangkok, and after a year, he acquired his helicopter rating.
In 1980, Ericson was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to Marine Air Group in Manila, later Ericson was suspected for armory theft in Manila, helicopter theft in Osaka, light weapons theft in Bangkok, and illegal weapons transporting. In early 1983, all of his operations were shut down, and Ericson was dishonorably discharged. Following his discharge, Ericson start working as a mercenary, and eventually recruited by corrupt CIA bureaucrat Marshall Murdock.
Role
Ericson first appeared awaiting for Rambo's arrival, being aware of the latter's past record as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War. As Rambo is assigned by Marshall Murdock to head over to a POW camp (commandeered by Captain Vinh) in search for missing American POWs, Ericson and Lifer are assigned to help him deploy into Vietnam.
Following Rambo's rescue of a POW named Banks, Ericson and Lifer were assigned to provide an extraction pickup alongside Rambo's closest friend Colonel Sam Trautman. As Rambo and Banks head up to the extraction point, Ericson rode his helicopter, allowing Lifer to shoot down several of Lieutenant Tay's men. However, upon learning that Rambo has rescued Banks, Murdock angrily orders both Erison and Lifer to abort the mission and let Rambo and Bank be captured. Trautman angrily objects to this, but Lifer holds him at gunpoint. As such, Ericson is reluctantly forced to leave Rambo and Banks behind, leaving them to be captured by Tay and his men.
However, Rambo was able to escape from captivity and slaughtered down the Vietnamese and Soviet soldiers before rescuing Banks and the other POWs. After killing Lieutenant Colonel Podovsky, Rambo transports the POWs back to base, where Trautman and the other men are awaiting their arrival. Rambo then confronts a nervous Ericson for his betrayal by kicking him in the groin and knocking him down into the pavement, despite Ericson admitting that he's glad that he made it.
It is unknown what happened to Ericson afterwards.

- Despite being a secondary antagonist, Ericson is portrayed as a seemingly trustworthy yet arcane man with an apparent respect for Rambo.
- In the film's novelization, Ericson is more uncaring than he his in the film.
