Eridan Ampora is a major antagonist in Andrew Hussie's webcomic Homestuck. He is a violet-blooded sea-dwelling alien Troll with a genocide complex towards lower-blooded trolls. He succumbs to the belief of the Hemospectrum, in which certain members of the Troll race are naturally higher or lower than one another based on the color of their blood.
Biography[]
Act 5 Act 1[]
Eridan started with an impressive degree of romantic success, being in a kismesissitude with Vriska Serket and a moirailegiance with Feferi Peixes. Vriska's kismessitude died as quickly as she lost interest in him, her pitch favours turning to another Troll named Tavros Nitram. Feferi broke up with him shortly after, leaving Eridan entirely alone without a filled quadrant to his name. Eridan is implied to have met Sollux Captor on the Land Of Brains and Fire for a duel, which ended as a draw.
Later, Kanaya Maryam pretended to take Eridan on as an apprentice, and began "teaching" him how to use magic. Eridan dubbed it "wwhite science", refusing to believe magic was real.
Act 5 Act 2[]
Eridan told Feferi and Sollux that he would join Jack Noir because he saw no hope in continuing the game the way they were playing. He invited Feferi to join him, earnestly attempting to convince her. Sollux took less than kindly to his betrayal, and the two quickly become aggressive. They fought, and as Feferi tried desperately to break them up, Eridan ended up knocking Sollux out against a wall and blinding him. Feferi, thinking Sollux had died, attacked Eridan with her trident. Eridan, in the heat of violence and suddenly cornered, shot her with his science wand through the chest leading to instant death. Kanaya watched this battle in frozen in shock, holding her chainsaw in one hand and the matriorb in the other. Eridan destroyed it with a single blast of his wand just to be a jerk and destroy all hope of preserving their species. Kanaya was outraged, and attempted to kill Eridan, only to be killed via a fatal blast through the stomach. He absconded quickly afterwards, leaving Karkat Vantas standing in the middle of the carnage, jaw dropped and in complete shock.
much later, Eridan met up with Gamzee Makara and Vriska Serket. Before the three could go into deadly combat, Kanaya, having survived through sheer vampirism, interrupted by clocking vriska in the face, kicking Gamzee in the crotch off a cliff, and slicing Eridan cleanly in half with her chainsaw, bisecting the Prince and taking him out as a potential threat.
Act 6 Act 2[]
Eridan made a re-appearance in Act 6 Act 2 as a ghost in his God Tier form. Eridan was revealed when Rose introduced him.

Act 6 Act 3[]
Eridan's ghost is seen at the end of Act 6 Act 3 (top left corner of a Flash insert) in a dream bubble, along with many other doomed timeline copies of characters. Then, the bubble was destroyed by Lord English, instantly killing Eridan as well as everyone else in the dream bubble at the time.
Act 6 Act 5 Act 1[]
Eridan made an appearance in Act 6 Act 6 Act 2 after Gamzee Makara stole his and Sollux's dead bodies and prototyped them into Jake English's Sprite. He was then renamed "Erisolsprite," a conjunction of the names of what he's comprised of.

Erisolsprite seems to hate Jake, and nearly everything he's confronted with. This character is known for constantly giving people the middle finger. He has too much self-loathing to live, but is too apathetic to self-destruct, so he's stuck in a state of eternal hatred towards literally everything and everyone.
Act 6 Act 5 Act 2[]
After Jake went into trickster mode, Jake asked the Sprite if it wanted to go on adventures with him. The Sprite refused but was then forced to go with him. During this time, after the re-con where John Egbert saved the GameOver! timeline, we see dead Eridan again in God-Tier with Feferi Piexes, bringing the Mayor back to life on the Land Of Wrath and Angels.
Act 6 Act 6 Act 5[]
During Act 6 Act 6 Act 5, Eridan's dead body is seen transforming into a ghost and entering the afterlife. There, he is greeted by Sollux, Feferi and Aradia. He is welcomed and seemingly forgiven for his crimes.
Relationships[]
Karkat Vantas - Friends, gossip buddies. Very close friends to the point that Feferi believed they were something more. They drifted apart after the game had started, and Karkat rejected him as a friend in a memo after Murderstuck.
Sollux Captor - Eridan and Sollux had little to do with each other before the game. They do not like each other at all. They did meet for duels after the game started, which ended up in Sollux being blinded. They eventually were prototyped into the same sprite, becoming Erisolsprite.
Nepeta Leijon - Eridan was Nepeta’s server player, and saved her life during the game at some point. Nepeta does not seem to like Eridan very much nevertheless.
Kanaya Maryam - Viewed each other as friends before the destruction of the Matriorb. Eridan told Kanaya that if he ever found a way to kill the landwellers, he would make sure she was unharmed. Kanaya pretended to train Eridan as a wizard. Eridan killed Kanaya during Murderstuck, and she returned the favour after coming back to life as a vampire.
Vriska Serket - Ex-kismesis, implied to have been kismeses for most of the time before the game. This paralleled their ancestors, Mindfang and Dualscar. FLARPing buddies.
Feferi Peixes - Used Eridan’s skills as an orphaner to feed her lusus. They were moirails for a very long time. Eridan developed red feelings for her, but she rejected him.
Rose Lalonde - Black romance crush. He tried to give her his gun, Ahab's Crosshairs.
Jade Harley - He successfully gave her his gun, and she promptly threw it out of her window.

- Unbeknowst to Eridan, his role as the "Prince of Hope" actually means that he is destined to destroy Hope. This prophecy clearly come to fruition when he destroyed the Matriorb, the only hope of preserving their species.
- Eridan was confirmed to have been Grimdark during Murderstuck.
- Eridan and Gamzee are the only two trolls to be officially labeled as "villains" by Andrew Hussie.
- Eridan seems to be based on "nice guys," people who believe others owe them romantic affection in return for common decency.
- Eridan is the only character who has ever been blocked by Vriska.
- Eridan's science wand was a copy of Hermione Granger's wand.
- Eridan's death seems to represent his symbol, being separated by the middle.
- The name "Eridan Ampora" was suggested by a composer for Tenebrais. "Eridan" comes from the Eridanos river, poured from Aquarius' urn. "Ampora" comes from amphora, a Greek container used for holding water.
