Ernie is a minor antagonist in Kill Bill: Volume 2, the second and final installment in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill film series.
He is a friend of Budd, who successfully defeats Beatrix during her mission to get revenge on the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. After overpowering her, Budd has Ernie help him bury her alive as revenge for her breaking his brother Bill's heart.
He was portrayed by the late Clark Middleton.
Personality[]
While little is seen of Ernie, he appears to be a drunk and a hillbilly similar to Budd, and is clearly a very amoral individual since he was willing to bury Beatrix alive without any explanation as to why. Furthermore he is shown to be sexist, as he calls Beatrix a bitch and when she doesn't respond to him and Budd's taunting Ernie brings up the fact that she is a white woman and insults her for it.
Biography[]
After Beatrix Kiddo embarks on her mission to get revenge on the members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, she eventually comes after Budd only to be defeated by him as he takes her off guard by shooting her in the chest with rock salt. Budd then calls Ernie and has him help perform a "Texas burial" in which the two of them bury Beatrix alive in a wooden coffin. When Beatrix wakes up, Ernie is seen drinking and he mocks her for how angry she looks. When she remains quiet in the face of their taunting, Ernie insults her for being a white woman and then helps Budd gets her into the coffin and nail it shut. It's unknown what became of Ernie following this, as even after Beatrix escapes the coffin she does not go after him.
Trivia[]
- Ernie is the only individual in the Kill Bill duology who attempts to kill Beatrix without her attempting to seek revenge.
