Erusea, or the Kingdom of Erusea, formerly Federal Republic of Erusea, are the secondary antagonists of the Ace Combat franchise.
Erusea serves as the main antagonists of Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. They are a country in the Strangereal universe situated on a large peninsula on the west of the continent of Usea.
Biography[]
Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies[]
After the impact of the meteors created by the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid, a refugee crisis broke out initially forcing the country to take in thousands of refugees, however they eventually put a restriction on taking them in, requiring any new refugees to have a visa before entering. This in turn was met with negative responses from the other Usean nations. Eventually, Erusea was provoked into occupying the nearby nation of San Salvacion to capture Stonehenge, a railgun defense station originally used to try to defend the continent from the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid, to use as an anti-aircraft superweapon. In the process, they began to rapidly expand and occupy other nations, as well as push back the Independent State Allied Forces drastically with their newly acquired weapon, beginning the Continental War.
Later on, the tides began to turn and ISAF begun to push back slowly, eventually reaching Stonehenge, which was then destroyed by ISAF's flying ace, Mobius 1. Eventually, ISAF was able to push Erusean forces back into their capital city of Farbanti, and the country surrendered.
However, remnants of the Erusean military attempted to continue fighting back against the ISAF using another superweapon developed by the Erusean government known as Megalith. The Megalith was also destroyed by Mobius 1.
Sometime afterwards, the fascist government was dissolved and Erusea was restored to a kingdom. However remaining members who supported the fascist regime formed a terrorist organization known as Free Erusea, which attempted two uprisings between the Continental War and the Lighthouse War.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown[]
In 2019, the Osean Federation was working with the nations of Usea to build the International Space Elevator. Due to misinformation and Belkan influence, Erusean government believed that Osea planned to take over the continent and attacked it and its allies in Usea using highly advanced drone aircraft that could be hidden inside of special cargo containers and launched. Eventually, all of the Osean and IUN forces were pushed back to the East, once again allowing Erusea to occupy a large portion of the Usean continent. In the process, the Eruseans now controlled the Space Elevator, and two of Osea's experimental "Arsenal Bird" planes, which could be used to deploy a squadron of drones from the air.

Eventually, Osean and IUN forces were able to push back more, eventually causing Erusea to lose a lot of the territory in the north. Osean forces captured and repaired Stonehenge, using it to destroy one of the Arsenal Birds, and eventually made it to the capital city of Farbanti and fought to bring Erusea to surrender.

Unfortunately, during the siege of Farbanti, Erusean and Osean forces destroyed Usea's entire satellite network, resulting in loss of communication and mass confusion between the nations. As a result, Erusea's current government began losing support, and their forces would split into two, the peace-supporting conservatives and the radicals, whose interests still aligned with the country's original intentions at the beginning of the war. Shortly afterward, Erusean forces murdered hundreds of civilians on Tyler Island, due to a lot of them being Belkan workers hired to work for the Erusean Air and Space administration, which was developing their drones. Eventually the conservative forces teamed up with Osea and the rest of the IUN nations and defeated the radical forces stationed at the Space Elevator.
Although the Lighthouse War had come to an end, Erusea remained in a state of civil war. The conflict itself led to a refugee crisis, and eventually other nations would send aid to help refugees suffering from the conflict. The current fate of the nation is unknown.
Trivia[]
- In Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, the demonym for Erusea is "Erusian", which was retconned to "Erusean" in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
- Erusea is the first antagonistic nation in an Ace Combat game, as the antagonists of all the previous games were either terrorists or megacorporations and a military coalition.
- Interestingly, the Erusean Air and Space Administration (EASA) is technically mentioned in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, however the meaning was different and is instead called the "Euro Asian Space Administration" in documents, similar to how the continent of Usea was originally USEA, an acronym standing for "United States of Euro-Asia". This is a result of the Strangereal universe not fully being developed and it was speculated that Usea was in the real world rather than in its own version of Earth.
