He is a depraved serial killer who has a love for mutilation and torture, seeing himself as a god after he was saved from a near death experience by wall resident Halk, after he was shrunk down Ethan’s obsessive murder tendencies took over and as a result, he decides to embrace it and kill as many people as he can.
He is voiced by Jimmi Simpson, who also played Skip Tyler in White House Down and the younger version of William from Westworld.
Biography[]
In his early days before the wall, Ethan was a rock climbing instructor for a fitness program, using it as a way to distract himself from his need to kill people, after Yumyulack shrunk him down and placed him in the wall Ethan had no way of suppressing his tendencies, During the war against the Duke he blew up a box full of candy to hopefully crush himself and stop his urges for good, but Halk eventually came to his rescue and pulled him out of it before he would die which leads to Ethan growing a god complex free to act on his desires.
The first we see of his actions is when a woman is shown walking her pet ladybug in the mushroom park, when she releases it from her leash, she encounters a deceased body with all of its organs cut out and mutilated, Halk is eventually sent in to investigate the murders, finding out that the victim found in the park was a farmer within the wall named Steve who he met earlier, Halk eventually comes to the conclusion that there is a serial killer within the wall. But is challenged by Enrique and Sonny who both insist that it was a cricket.
When the receptionist for the wall checks in with the designers it’s shown that Declan, the resident who she assigned to them never showed up, its shown that he was also mutilated in a similar manner to Steve, Halk is later shown with a file that says that 3 more people were slaughtered in a similar manner, Making him able determine Ethan’s pattern of murders for his investigation, Halk decides to go to another resident, bringing Sonny and Enrique for backup.
The three head into the house full of ladybugs where they find a resident staying within the house, before Halk could take him in for questioning Enrique and Sonny shoot said resident dead, Halk scolds them for acting too quickly with the two reprimanding him for not being thankful for saving his life, After the house incident they decide that the investigation is over with and that nothing more needs to be done, Halk decides to investigate on his own to find the true killer.
Halk eventually finds himself in a fortune cookie factory, where he puts together a fortune that gives him a hint to where the killer is, he finds Ethan exiting a cookie which then leads to a chase, while pursuing Ethan, Halk finds another dead body inside his bag, he manages to catch Ethan and brings him in for interrogation.
During interrogation, Halk shows Ethan the pictures and names of the people he’s killed, Ethan reveals to him that he was the one responsible for causing the nerds flood that killed countless people during the war while also revealing to him that he works with Tim by bringing in resources and supplies from a hole that takes him outside, Halk calls him a liar denying that Tim would hide a secret from the public, when Enrique and Sonny come in Halk grabs Ethan with a sharp ring pop while bringing him to Tim.
When Ethan is brought to Tim, Tim immediately recognizes him and is disgusted over his murders while scolding both of his associates for keeping it a secret from him, he also reveals that everything Ethan has told Halk was indeed true, he orders for them to take Ethan into a bong where he is to be executed, but he closes the bong and covers all three of them in chocolate, killing them in the process.
Personality[]
Before being brought into the wall, Ethan used his job as a rock climbing instructor as a way to distract himself from his murderous tendencies but after he was shrunk down his tendencies would become unstable and he would try to kill himself out of shame for his obsessions, but after Halk saves him he grows a god complex and all of his shame completely disappeared, he would soon indulge in his obsessions and go one a murder spree, during the interrogation he shows himself to be unloyal to Tim and was willing to use the wall to blackmail him so he can continue his kills.
