Ethan is a minor antagonist in the 2013 action-adventure video game The Last of Us. A militant within the Fireflies, he was tasked with restraining Joel by Marlene to allow Jerry Anderson to go with his procedure on Ellie.
He was voiced and motion-captured by Robin Atkin Downes, who also voiced Robert in the same game, Atoq Navarro in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Talbot in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Travis Touchdown in the No More Heroes series, Prophet of Regret in Halo Wars, The Riddler in Batman: The Enemy Within, Kano and Shinnok in Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, Valak in The Conjuring series, and also played Doomsday in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the One Night Live, he was portrayed by the late Annie Wersching, who played Tess Servopoulos in the game.

Background[]
Not much is known about Ethan's past, but he was presumably born during the late 1990s or early 2000s, and managed to survive during the cordyceps brain outbreak in 2013. During his survival after the outbreak, Ethan became a member of the Fireflies and was placed on patrol around Utah.
The Last of Us[]
While on patrol in Utah, Ethan find Joel trying to help Ellie after she nearly drowned, and ordered him to put his hands up. Seeing that Joel wouldn't follow his demand, Ethan knocked Joel unconscious with his rifle, and was ordered by Marlene to take them to the hospital. Ethan followed his orders, and took Joel and Ellie to the hospital, and Ellie was taken to surgery. Ethan was then present when Marlene informed Joel that Ellie was being taken to surgery, and when Joel attempted to resist this, Ethan knocked him to the floor. Marlene then explained to Joel that the surgery could lead to a vaccine, and ordered Ethan to escort Joel out of the hospital, and if he resisted, to kill him.
Ethan led Joel into the ward, telling the smuggler to give him an excuse to kill him. When Joel stopped when seeing his backpack, Ethan pressed him to move, but was attacked by the smuggler and attempted to fight back. Restrained by Joel, the smuggler demanded to know Ellie's location, and Ethan was shot in the stomach twice so he could give Joel an answer. Ethan revealed that Ellie was on the top floor, and was shot in the head by Joel before the smuggler collected his backpack and gear. His body was found by the other Fireflies, who went on the search to eliminate Joel to stop him from preventing the procedure. The Fireflies failed to stop Joel, who murdered the entire group stationed there, and rescued Ellie before the surgery could be started. Though Joel succeeded in rescuing Ellie and killing Marlene, he would be killed years later by Abby Anderson, who's father was the head surgeon at the hospital.
