Ethan Chang was a character of the TV show Bates Motel, and a coworker, later turned friend, of Dylan Masset's. He was Gil Turner's security guard who was required to guard the marijuana fields and kill anyone who trespassed. On occasion, he was also required to harm people who tried to double cross Gil.
He was portrayed by Terry Chen, who also played Commander Shumway in The 100, Pryce Cheng in Marvel's Jessica Jones and Owen in The Good Doctor.
Biography[]
Ethan is first seen at a bar crying over the death of one of his employers, Jerry Martin (who was burnt to death by Gil himself). Dylan is also there, and asks him what kind of job he has once he pulls hundreds of dollars in his wallet. Seeing that he's interested in the marijuana business, Ethan later introduces him to his boss, Gill Turner, at work and Dylan is hired as a security guard. Ethan later drives Dylan up to the marijuana fields in the mountains, where they two of their coworkers, who tease Dylan because he's the new guy. They end up spending the night, guarding the fields and become friends. A few days later, Ethan gives Dylan $5000 while their in his truck so he can find his own place to move into with his brother, Norman Bates. However, as they're talking, a tweaker, whom Ethan was required to beat up for not paying Gil back, shows up and shoots Ethan in the neck, running off. In a panic, Dylan takes the drivers side and drives Ethan to the hospital. He takes Ethan in and leaves once a cop shows up. Ethan later died from his wounds. Dylan later ran his killer over with Ethan's truck killing him, and burnt the truck down the next day on Gil's request to get rid of any evidence.
