The Ethos are a group of monsters known to be Di Gata vampires that feed off Di Gata energy. Three specifics Ethos serve as the primary antagonists of Season 2 after possessing Malco.
Storylines[]
The origin of the Ethos are unknown, but they waged a war on Rados and were banished to the Dark Realm with the use of the Celestial Abyss. Years later, after the Megalith’s destruction, three Ethos escaped from the the Dark Realm and used their army of Zad’s to capture Kara and transport her to the Dark Realm, so the defenders would open a portal to the Dark Realm, allowing rest of the Ethos to escape.
The defenders managed to defeat the Ethos and deal up the Dark Realem while recusing Kara. The Ethos then approached Flinch and Malco, show were trying to free Nazmul from the Nova Stone, offering an alliance with them, and opting to destroy them if they refused. The Ethos helped Malco and Flinch locate Brim the Stone carver, so he could free Nazmul. Nazmul was permanently destroyed and Malco was sapped of most of his energy, so the Ethos decided to possess Malco’s body.
The Ethos used Malco’s body to give orders to their other agent Lady K’Tash and forced Flinch to work for them, making him the caretaker for the Sigil Slayers they were breeding. They freed the disgraced Wizard of Yan Kor-Yin An, who had betrayed the wizards years ago by siding with the Ethos years ago, and also attempted to train the merchant-turned-Guardian Sii, hoping to break his spirit.
During the battle with Sii, the Ethos exited Malco’s body and subdued Sii. They talked about discarding Malco’s body after it had served it’s purpose, and Malco escaped when Sii attacked the Ethos. They tracked Malco down and repossessed him, vowing that they’re will be no mercy for anyone who stands in their way.
The Ethos eventually got all the icons and opens the portal to the Dark Realm, but instead, they absorbed the rest of the Ethos into themselves. Malco managed to fight back and drive the Ethos out of his body, so they destroyed him as a result. Two of the Ethos were destroyed soon after, but the third one finished absorbing the rest of the Ethos and became a Mega Ethos that the defenders destroyed, permanently putting an end to the Ethos.
