This guy hails from the lower east side of Rockport City but now rides on the coast. He's a big fan of imports and goes out of his way to take on the big blocks.
~ Eugene description.
Earl here, what’s up. Didn’t think it would be easy did ya? Let’s see you hold it down after the word goes out that you’re worth a lot of green. See you fight your way out of that.
~ Earl calling the player warning them to not to challenge him

Eugene James, better known by Earl, is a minor antagonist in the 2005 racing video game Need for Speed: Most Wanted. He is the 9th ranked racer on the Blacklist, being the last racer the player races before entering the Downtown Rockport. He drives a white Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR (CT9A).

He was played by Miche Sauveur.

Biography[]

Being one of the many notable illegal racers in Rockport, Earl appears after the player defeat Baron, first seeing going full speed on the track before drifting right in front of the player. After showing off, he then drafts his spot right next to another racer, ready to fire his engine and finish the face. In order to meet him, the player require a pink slip.

After being defeated, Earl (potentially) loses his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR (CT9A) to a pink slip, and is captured by the Rockport Police Department after a plan set by Mia Townsend and the player to arrest the entire Blacklist.

Personality[]

Not much is known about Earl other than the fact that he intends to keep his position on the Blacklist and avoid arrest from the Rockport Police Department, much like the other racers. Unlike Razor, Ronnie, or Vic, who are confrontational and threatening in their conversations with the player, he seems rather calm and cordial when he contacts the player about a bounty on their head, and hopes to see them "fight their way out of that".

Appearance[]

According to his profile picture featured in his bio, Earl wears a black hat and a white tank-top. He also wears a blue jacket over his white tanktop.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being encountered halfway through the career mode, many players find Earl to be the hardest boss in the game—ironically harder than Razor, as he always somehow manages to chase after the player with a large sense of speed when they are far ahead in first place.
    • This mechanic in video games is known as "rubberbanding", in which the game's AI (artificial intelligence) makes the opponent more skilled and challenging to the player, usually when the player is performing a lot better.
  • Earl's theme song during his biography video is "Feed the Addiction" by Ills.
  • Earl is one of the few Blacklist drivers to personally contact the player, the other being Victor "Vic" Vasquez.
  • During his bio video, Earl can be seen drifting in front of a stock BMW M3 GTR ALMS. He performs the same maneuver again when the player challenges him for the first time.
