The Eustace Foundation are the main antagonists of the 2023 Netflix original net animation series GAMERA -Rebirth-.

Initially presenting themselves as a global charity organization dedicated to studying the kaiju, it is later revealed that they intentionally awoke them as part of their plans to cull over 99% of the human race while selecting a few survivors.

Biography[]

Background[]

The Eustace Foundation was formed sometime prior to the events of GAMERA -Rebirth- by Anselm Rybrant, Prudencio Fortea, Nora Melchiorri, and Winston Griffith. Throughout the years, the Foundation has dedicated itself to doing numerous research and doing charities. Prior to the Eustace Foundation initiating their plans, they managed to capture a baby Gyaos and experiment on it.

GAMERA -Rebirth-[]

Above Tokyo[]

The Eustace Foundation has sent several of their workers to extract several Gyaos eggs found in New Guinea. Unfortunately, the workers were all brutally killed by a clutch of newly hatched Gyaos, who eventually made their out through a hole in their cave. It is also shown that they have extracted Jiger eggs from Indonesia.

Under Current[]

It is shown that several Eustace Foundation workers have been killed after the Jiger eggs have hatched. In the aftermath of the incident, two workers slowly enter the blood-splattered and vandalized room as they carefully approach a broken vent. Suddenly, a tail from one of the Jiger hatchlings impales the first worker in the head and yanks him down. As his colleague fires into the vent, two more tails shoot out and stab him. After, it was shown that the two workers are being eaten by the Jiger hatchlings.

Trivia[]

  • The Eustace Foundation are similar to the Exif from Polygon Pictures' Godzilla Anime trilogy, which GAMERA -Rebirth- director Hiroyuki Seshita previously co-directed. Both seek to eliminate humanity as their main goal, and both plan to use a gold-colored kaiju to help with their plans. However, while the Exif wanted to eliminate the entire human race, the Eustace Foundation actually want to enforce population control over the entire Earth.
  • The Eustace Foundation are the first human antagonistic faction in the Gamera franchise, as much of the other factions Gamera has previously faced off against were alien in origin.
  • Compared to the likes of Onodera, Mito Asakura and Shinya Kurata, the Eustace Foundation is easily the darkest of all the human villains in the Gamera franchise to date due to them explicitly feeding children to kaiju, which is something the franchise hasn't shown before.
