Evaristo is Alebrije's cousin who is also a shaman in India and later the mayor. Serves the supporting antagonist (later anti-hero) in Episode 9 from Legend Quest: Masters of Myths, as he is needed to decode a message from Friar Godofredo that is written in High Alebrije or at least two-thirds of it.

He is voiced by Miguel Ángel Ruiz in Spanish and Todd Haberkorn in the English dub.

Appearance[]

His appearance is similar to that of the films, only with some slight changes: his physique is similar to the Alebrije of the series, he does not have its zig-zag ribbon, instead it is replaced by a round hat with yellow and orange stripes, his antennas are purple instead of yellow, its mandala on its belly is completely purple and without the magenta dots that surround it, its webbed wings are replaced by a yellow and orange jacket.

Like his cousin, his appearance changes to that of a different animal, depending on who sees him.

Personality[]

He can be described as a narcissistic character (as seen before the villagers), but he is also very spiteful (like the incident with Alebrije and his magic macaron). However, when he has to save his skin, he is willing to make a truce with anyone.

Description[]

Like Alebrije, he primarily appears as a bipedal dinosaur creature. Like some of the alebrije specimens tend to have huge egos and tempers flare if there is more than one in any one place at a time. Evaristo even made up a law in India to prevent this.

Biography[]

He's Alebrije's cousin and has had bad blood with him since he ate Evaristo's magic macaroni, willingly aids a corrupt mayor in his plans in exchange for a cushy job as an Indian Shaman, and is overall, a high and mighty, stubborn Alebrije nincompoop. This doesn't stop him from helping Leo's team when he ends up in over his head though.

Evaristo's reason for refusing to trust anything that his own cousin says, to the point of indirectly aiding the Brotherhood against him and the rest of Leo's team, is because of a literal Noodle Incident in which Alebrije ate Evaristo's magic macaroni. This comes back to bite him in the butt when he finds himself chased by the Churel's victims.

At the Diwali festival, the children, who had been turned into old people because of the Churel; They remembered what had happened to them and demanded that Evaristo return his original age to them: evidencing that he was a fraudulent accomplice of The Brotherhood. By a stumble, Evaristo hits his cousin: suddenly forgiving him to go with him and his group to escape the crowd. Teodora proposes to Evaristo to pay off his debt if, he accompanies her cousin and her to Renfield's house to take Godfredo's diary, while Leo and Don Andrés go to the plaza to light the fireworks.

Teodora, taking Churel away from the residence, Evaristo and Alebrije come to Renfield to take the diary from him, cornering him in his own room. By force, both cousins choose to use their fighting technique, Alebrijitsu, beating the mayor together with everything they can until they take the newspaper from him.

With Renfield removed from his candidacy, the locals appoint Evaristo as the new mayor; for having saved the city from the Churel. The Team Legend, asking him to read the diary, Evaristo translates it and tells them that: the great statue of Coyolxauhqui is actually the petrified goddess, but the rest of the text is in an unspeakable unicorn idiom. As if that were not enough, Evaristo orders his cousin and friends to be arrested for violating the law that only one alebrije is legal in the locality, being chased by the guards.
