Biography[]
“ | Of all the timelines, this is clearly the darkest, which is why I propose we commit to being evil. I made us all black goatees out of felt, I suggest you put it on until you're able to grow your own. (dons felt goatee) From now on I am Evil Abed. We're the Evil Study Group, and we have but one evil goal: Return somehow to the prime timeline; the one that I stopped you from rolling that die. Then we destroy the good versions of ourselves and reclaim our proper lives. | „ |
~ Evil Abed choosing to commit to being evil. |
Evil Abed's origin stems from the episode Remedial Chaos Theory. The premise of the episode sees Troy and Abed hosting a housewarming party after moving into their new apartment. During the party, Abed's doorbell rings, implying the arrival of the pizzaman. When all members refuse to go get it, Jeff opts to roll a Yahtzee dice determining who will get the pizza. The episode then follows seven timelines, each focusing on a universe where someone different went to get the pizza.
Evil Abed stems from the universe in which Jeff rolled a one, forcing Troy to leave to get the pizza, nicknamed The Darkest Timeline, in which Troy's absence sends the Study Group into chaos. The result leaves Pierce presumed dead (though he is later revealed to have faked his death), Shirley an alcoholic, Annie reprimanded to a psychiatric institution after her guilt drove her insane, Jeff without an arm, Troy without a larynx and forced to use a voice modulator, and Britta with a blue steak in her hair. Days later, during a meeting, Abed realizes the group is in the Darkest Timeline, much to the frustration of a disillusioned Britta and Jeff. Abed explains that after going over that night in his head, he realizes it was his fault for not catching the die and stopping Jeff from rolling it: the outcome of the prime timeline. Abed then hands out felt black beards and reveals his plan to the group: Return to the prime timeline, destroy the versions of themselves who live there, and steal their lives. The rest of the Study Group opt to leave out of anger for Abed's games. Troy, however, stays and puts on a fake beard. The two then recite a variation of he and Abed's catchphrase: "Evil Troy and Evil Abed".
Evil Abed is later seen in the ending of Contemporary Impressionists, having appeared inside the Dreamatoruium, encouraging Abed to be alone and embrace his darker side. In the Season 3 finale, Introduction to Finality, Evil Abed appears to Abed yet again, who is feeling sad after losing Troy to the Air Conditioning Repair School run by Robert Laybourne. Evil Abed manipulates Abed into entering the Dreamatorium, and possesses his body. When Britta arrives for a round of therapy, Evil Abed reveals his intentions to darken the Prime Timeline, and reverse psycho-analyzes Britta into revealing a traumatic event from her past involving a man dressed in a dinosaur costume. After making the timeline 12% dark, Abed leaves Britta to go after Jeff, who is in the midst of a courtroom trial between Pierce and Shirley, in order cut his arm off.
Abed arrives at Greendale, and begins committing cruel acts on his way to Jeff, such as popping a kid's balloon. Upon entering the courtroom, Evil Abed is confronted by a vision of Prime Abed, who pleas with him to stop, but is rejected. However, Evil Abed finds that the cord for the bonesaw is too short, and goes to get a longer cord. Upon returning, however, Evil Abed witnesses Jeff give a speech about how helping people is good, and helping only yourself is bad, allowing Prime Abed to regain control.
In the Season 4 finale, Advanced Introduction to Finality, Evil Abed is shown to have reformed, which has led to the rest of the Evil Study Group, now under the control of Evil Jeff, kicking him out. When Abed is sent to the darkest timeline by Evil Jeff, he reencounters his Evil self, who offers interdimensional Paintball guns to allow him to travel back, which he later gives to the rest of the Prime Study Group. In the ending tag, Evil Abed and Evil Troy are seeing hosting their nonexistent TV show, "Troy and Abed in the Morning", where they interview the version of Britta and Troy from the timeline where Jeff rolled a 5. However, the entire events of the episode are shown to have been made up in Jeff's mind.
