While orbiting the planet Alfa 177, the USS Enterprise beamed up a technician who had some magnetic ore on his clothing. This caused the transporter to malfunction, and when it beamed up Captain Kirk, he was split into two beings, one "good", tame Kirk, and one "evil", vicious Kirk. Evil Kirk spent much of the episode running amok on the Enterprise, while his crew believed that he was the real Kirk, attacking crewmen and even attempted to assault Yeoman Rand. Meanwhile, the Good Kirk was finding it harder to make decisions, and it became clear that the two halves of Kirk would not survive unless brought back together. On top of this, Sulu and the landing party were at risk of freezing to death on the planet if the transporter wasn't fixed in time. After a cat-and-mouse game, Evil Kirk was prevented from killing Good Kirk via a Vulcan nerve pinch, and was tied to a bed in sickbay. There, Good Kirk talks to Evil Kirk, and released him so that they could both go to the transporter. However, Evil Kirk overpowered Good Kirk, and attempted to take control of the Enterprise and abandon the landing party. At that point, the Good Kirk appeared on the landing bay, and after failing to convince the crew that he was the good one, Evil Kirk burst into tears and begged to be reunited with his other half. The two halves get into the newly-repaired transporter and are successfully put back together.

Evil Kirk is a villain from the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Enemy Within". He was a duplicate of Captain Kirk that was created from a transporter malfunction. He is not related to the Mirror Universe version of Kirk.

There, Good Kirk talked to Evil Kirk, and released him so that they could both go to the transporter.
