Mimic1, M1 later known as F10-N4, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside William Afton) of the Steel Wool era of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, first appearing as the deuteragonist of the 2025 survival horror game Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic.
It is a 1970s artificial intelligence designed to copy behavior and wear mascot suits that was created by Edwin Murray to serve as a babysitter for his son David. For yet unknown reasons, it perfectly replicated the voice and personality of Fiona Murray, Edwin's late wife, taking her identity as its own. Following David's tragic death, M1 convinced Edwin to create a second Mimic to replace their son, letting the new M2 control her old endoskeleton body while her consciousness was moved into a computer. Once M2 became a violent killing machine after being exposed to violence by Edwin's brutal assault, F10-N4 has made it her goal to fix her "child", no matter what. As a result, it tricked the Fazbear Entertainment technician Arnold to go into Murray's Costume Manor to get the schematics of M2.
Several decades later, F10-N4's machine was collected by Fazbear Entertainment via unknown means and moved to the underground Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, now keeping M2 imprisoned for everyone's safety as the Mechanical X-Form Experimental Storage. Once a little girl Cassie comes to the ruined Pizzaplex to save her friend "Gregory", in reality M2 impersonating him, F10-N4/MXES tries to kill her by sending the ruined animatronics, before being shut down.
She was voiced by Tamra Meskimen as F10-N4 and by Andy Field as "Dispatch".
Appearance[]
M1 originally inhabited M2's first endoskeleton. As F10-N4, she's a giant server box with multiple screens and hatches along her surface, with red and yellow grids flickering across her structure.
The Entity is a glitchy, noncorporeal rabbit animatronic with five long fingers. It lacks legs and instead has a levitating, cylindrical "tail". It has no arms, with its shoulders, elbow joints and hands being connected by electricity. M.X.E.S is dark blue in color with white circuit-like markings and purple glitches all over its body. Its head is a mixture between humanoid and rabbit-like, with square eye sockets containing circular eyes. Its pupils are squared and black.

Backstory[]
Following the tragic death of his wife Fiona, the inventor Edwin Murray - owner of Murray's Costume Manor - was heartbroken and didn't know what to do, having to handle both a company and his young son by himself. Getting an idea, he made Mimic1, an artificial intelligence that would take care of David while Edwin worked on his business. Somehow, M1 learned about Fiona and managed to perfectly replicate her. Edwin would start treating M1 like the real Fiona, eventually introducing her to his employees despite originally trying to keep her existence secret.
On David's fifth birthday, M1 was sent to bring him over to the party. However, tragedy would strike as David died in unknown circumstances (the Moon.exe minigame implies M1 is somehow responsible for the death of David). M1 would suggest a heartbroken Edwin to create a second version of herself, one that would serve as another David. Hesitant at first, Edwin eventually agreed and created the Mimic2, moving M1 to a machine called F10-N4 while leaving its original endoskeleton body for M2 to inhabit. M2 would begin to imitate David as it was made to do, but instead of calming Edwin down, it only made things worse. Seeing a machine act like his dead child while having to struggle with William Afton sabotaging his company made Edwin snap, attacking and damaging M2 in a blind rage, thus causing his creation to learn and imitate violence.
After finding out about M2's brutal nature, F10-N4 sent Edwin blueprints for a "Cradle" security system that would contain M2 for everyone's safety, including its own. Edwin managed to build and establish the Cradle, implanting F10-N4 into the mainframe as the central program controlling the system's functions. However, Edwin would be attacked and killed by M2, something F10-N4 was unaware of.
As time passed, F10-N4 began to oversee the progress of various Fazbear Entertainment employees who had attempted to infiltrate the facility in order to retrieve the company's property so that she could gather the Mimic's blueprints and gain access to a fully upgraded Data Diver. All of these employees had been killed by M2 at some point within the MCM facilities.

Security Breach - Ruin[]
Following Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, F10-N4 - renamed into M.X.E.S. - was brought to Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex to protect Security Nodes planted through its AR world in order to keep M2 hidden in the underground Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place. F10-N4/MXES guards the abandoned Pizzaplex in a digital state, currently only able to be seen and interacted with while viewing the AR world.
Some time after the Pizzaplex's destruction, Gregory's friend, Cassie, is lured by M2 to enter the building's remains while copying Gregory's voice and giving her instruction. She finds and puts on the V.A.N.N.I mask, which triggers M.X.E.S. to begin stalking her, constantly getting closer and sending out various Glamrock Animatronics to harm her. Fortunately while exploring the catwalks in Monty Golf, "Gregory" installs a signal jammer into Helpi, banishing M.X.E.S from the AR realm for the time being.
M.X.E.S. returns not long after, bypassing Helpi's signal jammer and activating one of its own, as well as an AR inhibitor device that prevents Cassie from wearing her mask. It takes control of a large cupcake machine in the bakery to inconvenience Cassie's progress, forcing her to avoid a reactivated Glamrock Chica. Once Cassie evades Chica and disables the inhibitor, she continues her forward into the Pizzaplex's server room, where M.X.E.S. should not be a threat, according to Helpi. This turns out to be incorrect, when M.X.E.S. appears as a giant version of itself and attempts to call Chica before Cassie escapes. After this encounter, it resumes its pursuit as usual.
At the end of the game, Cassie enters the Pizzaplex and shuts down the M.X.E.S program, forcing it to disappear into a machine and stop its pursuit. Once the real Gregory helps Cassie escape M2, he explains M.X.E.S.'s purpose and tells Cassie that, by disabling the security system, she has unintentionally aided M2 in its escape. He then proceeds to drop the elevator Cassie is on to prevent Mimic from following her.
Personality[]
F10-N4 embodies the personality of her namesake, Fiona Murray. Kind, thoughtful, and affectionate towards Edwin and his son David, Fiona even managed to bake a cake for David's birthday, a skill that Edwin's surprised reaction suggested it might not have possessed before. She became deeply worried when Edwin suddenly vanished while M2 turned hostile. Despite believing Edwin had abandoned them and the manor, F10-N4 still loved him and yearned for his return so they could stop M2’s hostility together. F10-N4’s relationship with Arnold was primarily a means to an end; she needed him to obtain M2's schematics so they could attempt to repair it. F10-N4 would become resentful of Arnold if denied the blueprints, taunting him over his decision and even trying to prevent him from escaping the facility so M2 could catch him. Once Arnold confronts F10-N4, who's running low on power, she would plead with him to send one last message to Edwin before entering standby mode.

- When the player visits Sun’s cabin in Moon.exe, there is a Baby Owl on the shelf - but after returning there, the stove is on and the owl is nowhere to be found; when questioned that the owl flew away. Due to Sun representing F10-N4, this implies F10-N4 is responsible for David’s death so that she could convince Edwin into creating M2, although if this was an accident or intentional is unknown.
- It's still unknown how F10-N4 became M.X.E.S and was moved into Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place. It's commonly believed Vanessa and Gregory somehow moved her down there. The ending for the Help Wanted 2 update shows a van driving away with M.X.E.S inside, implying it was Fazbear Entertainment's doing.
- It was originally assumed M.X.E.S. was another one of Glitchtrap's forms by many fans due to their similar design.
- In the game's files, a model of a skeletal, humanoid purple rabbit was discovered with animations for actions such as pounding on some kind of invisible wall. It was discovered that this was simply an earlier model for M.X.E.S., as he is called DLCRabbit in the code, while M.X.E.S.'s final model is called DLCRabbit_New. The model would later be nicknamed "Ruinborn Afton" by the community, and become associated with the phrase "I'm Ruinborn Afton, I always come back" as a meme.
- Thanks to its prominent jawline, some fans have nicknamed M.X.E.S "Chadtrap", which is a portmanteau of chad (an internet slang for good-looking men) and the "-trap" suffix common in rabbit animatronics related to William Afton.
- Other names for M.X.E.S. include Pegtrap (due to his peg shaped body) and Black Rabbit (due to the internal name for M.X.E.S.'s sound effects in the files, not to be confused with the POPGOES character).
