Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa (best translated into National Defense Forces) are the main antagonists of Far Cry 6. It is the armed forces of Yara, under the command of Antón Castillo.

History

FND are the armed forces of Yara and consist of around 300,000 members, both men and women can serve in the forces and both genders are subjected to conscription. One of these conscripts was Dani Rojas. They are serving under Castillo's regime and their existence is very crucial for his grip on Yara. Therefore, the Libertad started a revolution to overthrow Castillo's fascist regime. The FND is constantly abusive towards people who opposed Castillo, and hostile to Libertad, referring them "terroristas". Since their country has conscription, many Yarans joined the army because of the law, despite not having any loyalty to Castillo's regime.

If Dani joins Libertad, the Castillo regime would rapidly collapse within the later half of 2021. After the fall of Castillo, the remnants of FND refuse to surrender, continue taking hostages, abusing civilians and not leaving them alone, fighting against Libertad and would form insurgencies to take back the unstable areas of Yara, thus continuing the war with Libertad. If Dani takes the boat to leave Yara and live in United States, the FND would remain active.
