Background[]
He has stated that he was once a breadwinner of their family during his youth and belong to a poor family. At some point, he established businesses both legal and illegal businesses with the help of his soon to be father-in-law. Later on he was married to Bettina forcefully due to Bettina’s obsession of money making him having a miserable life. Upon establishing a family he fathered Juancho but eventually disowned him after the latter abandoned his children. With Juancho’s abandonment to Pablo and Katherine, he took the custody of his grandchildren and mentored Pablo to be his successor in the business.
He eventually made connections with the Montenegro crime family in order to expand their businesses but eventually their connections ended after he forcibly spent the Montenegro’s money that Ramon hid to them as a way to end his deal with the Mamba Cartel. With their connections end this caused them to have a war between their families.
One night he saw Pablo going home extremely injured thanks to Tanggol who seriously beat him after learning that he attempted to rape Bubbles. With his disappointment, he encouraged Pablo to extract his vengeance to Bubbles by abducting her and assault her. Days after Tanggol learns that Bubbles was assaulted, he managed to search and take down Pablo avenging Bubbles. With Pablo’s demise he’ve gone obsessed in hunting down the one responsible for killing his grandson.
Later on, he recruits Tanggol and his gang thanks to his henchpeople, Marcelo and Madonna. Initially Tanggol refused to join his syndicate but later decided to join with the gang after Marcelo blackmailed Tanggol. It was unknown to him that Tanggol was the one responsible for killing his grandson Pablo. Upon recruiting Tanggol and his friends, he tasked them to steal a rare diamond known as Star of Venus, which was stolen by Tanggol. With the first mission’s failure, he started to distrust Tanggol and had some suspicion that he was the one who stole the diamond. Tanggol continued working with him on-and-off as Tanggol made connections with Divina in order to keep the diamond away from him.
One day he learns that Tanggol was the one responsible for killing Pablo, thanks to Juancho who hired private investigators. He then calls Tanggol and the gang to meet up with them in his mansion only to trap them for their punishment. He then confronted Tanggol for killing his grandson and eventually brutally tortured the gang by dragging Tanggol with his horse. As the gang were extremely tortured, he imprisons them in his shed continuously torturing Tanggol and confronting him for killing Pablo.
Tanggol yells back at him that Pablo was the one responsible for Bubbles’ demise making Marcelo realized that he was the one who initiated the misfortune of Bubbles. With Marcelo’s wrath, he points gun at him instead of shooting Tanggol and the gang. Confronted by Marcelo, he was able to evade Marcelo’s bullet which was blocked by Juancho causing him to shoot back at Marcelo for the latter’s betrayal. Not so long, he was also alarmed that the Montenegros raided his mansion making him abandon killing Marcelo and Tanggol.
He eventually faced Ramon once again but this time he was trapped as the Montenegros killed his family one by one. Trapped in the hands of Montenegros, David shoots him to death pretending to prove his loyalty to the Montenegros. The Montenegros later abandoned his mansion and David covered his face with his hat. Tanggol and his friends later escaped with the help of Madonna, and as they’ve reached the Caballeros’ death place, Tanggol confirms that he died and rejoicingly remarked for his payment for all his sins to Bubbles with his grandson Pablo.
Personality[]
In his introduction he is shown to be charismatic and opportunistic individual as his character is displayed to be wealthy individual who is obsessed in fortune. With his opportunistic character, this made him encourage to turn Pablo as his successor by both mentoring him in their legal and illegal deals which would also cause Pablo’s greatest demise. However, this is his belief that Pablo would soon be his successor and continue their family’s legacy.
Despite of his greedy nature, he also displays some poise wherein he is able to depict some of his good character such as caring everyone he cares such as his family and anyone that is close to him such as Tindeng. With this character it is an opposite to his wife Bettina’s character wherein she displays no remorse to other people as she only cares about is money and luxury. Nevertheless, he displays a hypocritical personality such as playing to be genuinely kind everyone he admires such as Tindeng but the truth is he is elitist as this was seen during his confrontation with Tanggol where she insulted Bubbles stating that she is a priceless woman.
He can also be a wrathful man as this was seen when he confronted and tortured Tanggol and his friends by dragging Tanggol with a horse and asked his goons to severely beat Tanggol’s friends. In this scene, this also revealed that he is also a sadistic individual wherein he severely punished Tanggol as his method in slowly killing him to extract his vengeance to Pablo.
