The Fairies (妖精 yousei) are major antagonists of the Touhou Project franchise.
They are small, humanoid creatures representing aspects of nature. While not instinctually evil, they tend to be very mischievious and aggressive, likes to assault and fight others and destroy objects for fun. They are the most common stage enemies in every shooting game, shooting danmaku to attack the heroines, with several notable members (like Cirno) appearing as game bosses.

Fairies take the form of short humanoid with wings, usually mayfly- or butterfly-like, with some exception like Cirno who has wings composed of ice. A fairy originates from a certain aspect of nature, and as long as that nature is preserved, they're indestructible. Fairies have short lifespan, but they will regenerate immediately after dying. Fairies are mischievious and simple-minded, can get enjoyment from pulling pranks on humans, sometimes they play "pranks that go too far", like making humans fall from cliffs, which would be a dangerous aspect of them.
