There have been countless attempts on my life. Not just once or twice. Countless! And yet, why must I be the one to face the danger? When I stand before the people. I garner the same respect as the president does. Tell me, just what is the difference between him and me!?
~ The body double revealing his motive to Bodhidharma Kanis.

Fake Di-Jun Wang (Japanese: Fake Teikun Ō) is the overarching antagonist of the 2011 visual novel Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit.

He is initially a brave and authoritative man who was no nonsense. However after Miles Edgeworth interrogates him, he sheds this persona and is revealed to be a cowardly and weak willed man who is incapable of solving his country's problems so he staged an assassination to gain undeserved sympathy. He would later be killed by Simeon Saint in self defense after the body double shot at him with a pistol.

Biography[]

Past[]

Tired of risking his life everyday without having the benefits of being the real president, the body double conspired with corrupt chief prosecutor Excelsius Winner and abusive orphanage owner Fifi Laguarde to hire the infamous assassin Bodhidharma Kanis to kill the real president and take his place so he could reap all of the benefits from the real president. The real president was ambushed on his way to see his son Shaun Fenn by Bodhidharma Kanis and while he dodged Kanis' first hit, the second hit killed the president instantly. As the body double returned from the Zheng Fa embassy after covering for the real president, the body double noticed a camera man named Alf Aldown taking pictures of Winner and Laguarde hiding the body, so he picked up a brick and smashed Aldown's head in with it, killing him instantly.

After burying the real president's body underneath the orphanage, the body double then impersonated him for the next 12 years. Terrified of being found out, he cut off all of the president's closest allies and family and only used private bodyguards as protection instead. Due to his cowardice, he allowed Zheng Fa to fall into an economical ruin by allowing a smuggling ring to operate and used the real president's accomplishments to hide how inferior he was compared to the real one.

Turnabout Trigger[]

After his approval ratings have dropped substantially since 2007, the body double decided to fake an assassination plot so that he could gain sympathy from citizens and continue being a cowardly president. Unknown to him though, the infamous assassin Shelly de Killer would actually try to assassinate him but thanks to the efforts of his bodyguard Bastian Rook, the body double's life was saved but his second in command Bronco Knight was injured by De Killer, causing him to only have Rook and Knight as his bodyguards so De Killer couldn't disguise himself again and Knight being swapped to the left as he couldn't turn his head right due to his neck brace.

Desiring to capitalize on Miles Edgeworth and Shi-Long Lang bringing down the Zheng Fa smuggling ring, the body double traveled to Gourd Lake and gave a speech thanking those who saved his country from falling into a further disaster and promised the citizens to take care of anyone else to do with the smuggling ring. Knight then put the fake plan into action by firing at the Steel Samurai balloon twice. Despite knowing the plan was fake, the body double was still terrified by the sound of gunshots. Knight and Rook led him back to the plane where the body double cowardly hid under his bed and plugged his ears making him unaware that Knight had killed Rook inside the plane and hid the evidence.

De Killer had apparently attempted to take the president's life again and took Knight hostage to force him to allow Edgeworth to continue his investigation and so that he could get a chance to kill the body double. De Killer decides to threaten the body double saying that if he did not come out, then he would kill Knight to prove if he "values his subordinates life over his own". The body double did not reply and De Killer, realizing that he had been tricked, escaped the area and left Edgeworth a vague clue that revealed De Killer knew that the president was a body double as the real president would never have done something so cowardly. After realizing it was safe to come out, the body double exited his room and attempted to intimidate the others to get off his plane using authority. Edgeworth revealed that he still had rights to investigate as the assassination attempt took place outside the plane so the extraterritorial rights were void.

The body double decided to testify about the speech saying that after the red balloons were shot, a second bullet must have killed Rook but Edgeworth revealed that there was no red balloon, only a Steel Samurai balloon which was the first step towards the body double being involved in the fake assassination. The body double attempted to cover himself saying that he couldn't see the balloon properly due to a flag fluttering due to the strong wind; however, this ended up proving that Knight was the one who shot the balloon as the trajectory shows the bullet went through the flag and into the balloon from the left side of the stage, which was the reason Knight was swapped to the left side on the president's orders. Defeated, the body double revealed his true form as an obese and pathetic man. The body double, wanting to make himself look better, feigned shock that Knight would do something as horrible as killing his superior and decided to help Edgeworth for his own benefit so that Knight would take all the blame for the assassination attempt. Edgeworth deduced that Knight killed Rook inside the plane and the body double reverted back to his no nonsense personality once they exited the plane and feigned a promise to Edgeworth that he would take responsibility for the plot, but two days later, it was revealed that the body double framed Knight to make it look like a real assassination attempt with Knight killing Rook, then attempting to kill him also with Excelsius Winner using his authority to assist him.

Turnabout for the Ages[]

Two weeks later, Verity Gavèlle requested to visit the president so that she could meet his son Shaun Fenn. Fearing that he would be found out, the body double requested for the meeting to take place on the top of the grand tower so that he could kill her and possibly Shaun Fenn later too. Gavèlle had brought lion lilies as a present for the body double (which were the flowers the real president gave to his partner Amelie Fenn) to prove that Gavèlle did know about Shaun being the president's son.

Before the body double could kill Gavèlle, he spotted a hot air balloon from the Berry Big Circus coming towards them. The body double told Gavèlle to escape so that he could kill the pilot discreetly. The body double fired one bullet at the basket but he was then crushed to death with the basket by the pilot of the balloon, revealed to be Simeon Saint. The basket also crushed the bouquet of lion lilies causing the body double's clothes and the basket of the balloon to be stained with pollen.

Realizing his plan was now in trouble, Simeon took the body double's body to the Berry Big Circus's freezer warehouse so he could freeze the body and throw off the time of death. Two days later, Simeon took the body out of the warehouse and looked for a place to drop it. He noticed that Shaun Fenn had accidentally caused a giant moozilla head to fall so he flew to the filming lot and lowered the body double's body onto the floor and made it look like he had been crushed by the moozilla head. Simon had also figured out that the body double intended to murder Courtney to prevent the truth of him being a fake from coming out.

Miles Edgeworth and Shi-Long Lang were brought on the case and with Lang and Kay's assistance, Edgeworth proved that the real president was killed in the exact same spot as the Grand Tower 12 years earlier and was replaced by the body double since then and he also proved that Saint was the true murderer as the pollen on the basket and the body double's clothes were the decisive proof.

Personality[]

The body double was a seemingly intimidating and serious individual. However this was just an act to hide his true personality as a cowardly, petty, envious, and pathetic man who despite being the body double of the president, was terrified of the sounds of gunshots to the point where he hid under his bed and plugged his ears. Other examples of his cowardice was that he was perfectly willing to let Knight die if he could save his own skin and him pinning the plot entirely on Knight to make it look like a real assassination attempt just so he could continue his pathological desire to be away from any type of danger.
