Fallit Kot was a one-time business associate of Quark. They had planned to sell a consignment of Romulan ale that Kot had hijacked but, after they were arrested, Quark gave evidence against Kot: He was freed and Kot served eight years in a Romulan prison. On his release, he headed to Deep Space 9 and declared his intention to kill Quark in revenge. Quark tried to win Kot over with an elaborate meal and a go on the dabo tables but Kot was unimpressed. Having heard of what was going on, Odo attempted to give Kot a warning but Kot played innocent.
Kot attacked Quark in his quarters, aiming to kill him, but Quark revealed he was about to sell forty-two of the priceless Rings of Paltriss to a Yridian, Ashrock, and offered Kot the 199 bars of gold-pressed latinum he was getting as payment. Kot accompanied Quark to the transaction, only to produce a weapon and demand both the rings and the money. He killed Ashrock and grabbed Quark as a prisoner, declaring he had something special in store for him.
Pursued by station security, Kot took Quark and hijacked the Runabout Orinoco, together with Lieutenant Jadzia Dax and Ensign Melora Pazlar. The station locked a tractor beam on them but Kot contacted Sisko and threatened to kill the hostages if he wasn't released, shooting Melora to prove his point. Kot had Dax take the runabout through the wormhole, with Sisko, O'Brien and Bashir pursuing in the Rio Grande. Kot tried to get Dax to fire on them, but Melora had survived being shot as a result of the treatment she had been undergoing to survive in higher gravity. She turned off the runabout's gravity, creating an environment suited to her species in which she easily overpowered Kot. He was taken into custody by Sisko.
