~ False Face Society getting speech from Black Mask.
They are gang led by Roman Sionis, known as Black Mask, operating in Gotham City. They try to capture Cassandra Cain to obtain Bertinelli Diamond for their boss.
Biography[]
Black Mask founded the False Face Society as his gang, recruiting various criminals and also becoming allies of the Galante Crime Family to kill members of the Bertinelli Family in order to take the Bertinelli Diamond, which would be used by Black Mask to become a most powerful crime boss in Gotham City.
At some point in time, Black Mask's gang began a rivalry with the gang of another crime lord, the Joker, though Black Mask never led them to war because he was too scared of the Joker, as well as his girlfriend, Harley Quinn, whom he could not stand.
Years later, after the Bertinelli family massacre, sole survivor Helena Bertinelli became the Huntress and began hunting down those connected to her family's death, starting with Galante family boss Stefano and murdering his men, and later targeting False Face Society members Carlo Rossi and Happy, before joining Harley Quinn, Dinah Lance, and Renee Montoya to protect juvenile delinquent Cassandra Cain (who was in possession of the Bertinelli Diamond after stealing it from Victor Zsasz) from Black Mask and the False Face Society.
After Victor's death at Amusement Mile by Huntress, the False Face Society accompanies Black Mask to the location, tasked with capturing Cassandra and retrieving her diamond, with the promise that whoever does so will receive half a million dollars from Black Mask. The False Face Society attacks Birds of Prey, but most of them are killed or knocked out, with several more being killed during the car chase.
Ultimately, the False Face Society is disbanded with the death of Black Mask, who was blown up by a grenade planted by Cassandra.
