Fangry is a minor antagonist in Generation One of the Transformers franchise, from the 1988 toyline.
Marvel Comics[]
Fangry was introduced in Issue #46 as one of a trio of previously unseen Decepticon Headmasters among Scorponok's troop. His Headmaster partner Brisko assisted Lord Zarak in recruiting a group of human bounty hunters, the Roadjammers, and setting them on the Autobots Fizzle, Sizzle and Backstreet. The Roadjammers captured their targets using the robot controlling weapons Zarak had given them, but on discovering Fangry, Horri-Bull and Squeezeplay and realising the true nature of their employers, they turned the weapon on them and turned them against Scorponok, forcing him to destroy the control device and free both the three Decepticons and the Autobots.
In the UK-exclusive story "Time Wars", Fangry was among a squad of Decepticons who accompanied Misfire in tracking down Scorponok's head, which had been stolen by Highbrow. He and many of the others were shunted into limbo by the arrival of Cutthroat and several other Decepticons from the future.
After a lengthy absence, Fangry became one of the most frequently seen Decepticons from Issue #71 onwards. He accompanied Scorponok in accepting the surrender of Optimus Prime's troops, the subsequent Decepticon Civil War against Shockwave's rogue faction and the battle with Unicron.
With a truce existing between Autobots and Decepticons, Fangry was extremely vocal during the meeting between the factors to discuss evacuating the damaged Cybertron and was brought into line by new commander Bludgeon. He subsequently picked a fight with Autobot leader Grimlock, only to receive a beating in exchange. He was happy to join Bludgeon as he betrayed the Autobots, leaving them to die, and launched an invasion of the planet Klo. When the Autobots followed, Fangry took part in ambushing them and then joined Octopunch in tracking down the handful of survivors. Although Weirdwolf lost their scent, Fangry was able to track them down and confront them, only to be killed by Grimlock.
The pre-movie version of the character appeared in "Prime's Rib", set in 1995, where Shockwave took him, Squeezeplay and Horri-Bull to investigate the unveiling of a new Autobot secret weapon. This turned out to be Arcee, who managed to overpower the attackers.
