Fanry is the main antagonist of the canon Star Wars novel Master & Apprentice.
Upon her birth she became the crown princess of the inner-rim world of Pijal's monarchy - which was still an absolute monarchy in the decades before the Battle of Yavin. She was orphaned at the age of six when her parents died. Due to all the infighting at court the Pijali reached out to the Galactic Republic for assistance in appointing a regent to manage until Fanry was old enough to assume the throne.
The Jedi Order sent the Jedi Knight Rael Averross to serve as Lord Regent, feeling that after the death of his previous Padawan raising a child would help him get over his grief.
In addition to acting as Lord Regent, Averross also assisted Pijal's government in preparing to transition from an absolute monarch to a constitutional monarch, and set up a new treaty which would allow the Republic to establish a hyperspace route, opening up the region to hyperspace travel. Averross also had to deal with the Czerka Corporation, which had a great deal of influence in the system and held a large number of slaves in the system. The new treaty would allow Czerka to largely take over the Pijal system.
Meanwhile, Fanry was given the education needed to assume the throne when the time came. However, the more she studied the history of the monarchy the more she found absolute rule attractive. She kept her true feelings to herself and trusted confidants in the royal guard, giving all outward signs of agreeing to the change in government and the new treaty.
When the day came for her coronation and to sign the treaty, she stabbed the Skykeeper who was in the process of administering the oath of office. Taking the consecrated crown and setting it on her own head, she had her Royal Guard Captain Deren try to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi while sparing the life of Qui-Gon Jinn on the grounds that he had opposed the treaty (but for different reasons than what she wanted). As she had not signed the treaty, she became the absolute monarch of Pijal.
Boarding her flagship Righteous, Fanry attempted to fire upon a Czerka ship undergoing a slave uprising. Her loyal aide and former Czerka slave Cady refused to allow Fanry to murder hundreds of innocent slaves, and deposed Fanry upon realizing that Fanry was willing to abandon her claims of freeing slaves she said she would free earlier to ensure that Czerka was destroyed.
Fanry's actions cemented public opinion against her, and the government decreed that seizing the monarchy by violence made Fanry's coronation invalid. After a few days Fanry agreed to abdicate in favor of her cousin Lamia. Queen Lamia ruled just long enough to sign a new treaty with the Republic, replace the government with a democratic assembly, and abolish the Pijal monarchy forever. Since she was a minor during her attempted coup, Fanry was placed under house arrest in one of the royal palaces for the next four years, with the newly appointed Governor Orth intending to have her attend university on some distant world, well away from Pijal, although Orth and Qui-Gon both hoped that Fanry could have a lot to contribute to her people after growing up, understanding that Fanry had been left believing her extremist activities were her only means to protect her planet and people from Czerka.
