The Fault Ripper is a major antagonist in the DreamWorks TV series, Dragons: The Nine Realms, serving as the main antagonist of Season 1 and a supporting protagonist in Season 3.
Biography[]
There was an earthquake from the trench and the geologists don't even know where the source is. As Tom and Jun went in the vehicle to go down the trench, they discovered that the source was a dragon, Fault Ripper. Later Tom called his dragon, Thunder, so Thunder and his friends came. They went to their riders and they all fought the Fault Ripper. As the three riding dragons lost their firepower, Feathers used her sonic blast and that is the Fault Ripper's main weakness. It's unknown what happened to the dragon afterward if the dragon fell to its death or possibly survived.
Later on, it was revealed to be alive but it stayed at the bottom of the Fissure since the final battle. While sleeping it was confronted by the riders, Jun and Tom, and instantly became so aggressive that it tried to drive them away. Tom decided to bond with it so that it can help them with the Sky Torcher invasion. At first, he wasn’t very successful as the dragon continued to attack them. While looking for them Tom tried to apologize for his actions, but it swung him, causing Wu and Wei along with Thunder to attack. Thunder threw several warning lightning bolts causing the Fault Ripper to scream in fear. This made Tom realize that it still remembers from before, and he tried to sympathize with it hoping to earn its trust.
Fortunately, he was successful, Tom took it to the Crystal Realm to drain the magma and send the Sky Torcher, along with its minions, back to the Fire Realm. When all seems lost, the dragon arrives in time with allies to fight back which proved to be successful. The Sky Torcher called back the Flame Throwers, and at the last moment, the Fault Ripper made a loud roar that blocked the entrance, successfully defeating them. The Fault Ripper is last seen celebrating along with the Dragon Club members.
Appearance[]
The Fault Ripper appeared as a large dragon. It looks like a typical western dragon, based on the wings and horns. It has large earthhole's, since it relied on hearing, but has poor vision since not much is needed. It creates a twirl of fire in order to drill through tunnels. Although it can also tunnel through without the use of its dragon flame. It can even roar loud enough to make an earthquake without drilling.
Personality[]
The Fault Ripper is so aggressive and territorial that it has no care about others. Creating earthquakes can be fatal to people even dragons. However, when Tom found the dragon, he gained its trust which made it became less hostile and chaotic than before, to the point that it cares about him. As shown when it was willing to help the riders, along with the Crystal Realm dragons, to defend the Hidden World from the Sky Torcher and the Flame Throwers.
