~ Fecto Forgo expressing their hatred for Kirby while using Leongar as a puppet. |
Fecto Elfilis is the main antagonist of the 2022 platform game Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
They are a mysterious evil alien entity that hails from somewhere within the dark depths of space. An extensively powerful extraterrestrial specimen, they notably possess the ability to both create inter-dimensional rifts and travel to other dimensions. Long ago, they invaded the Forgotten Land in the past but was then contained in Lab Discovera, where they were designated as Specimen ID-F86. They are also the adverse experimental assimilation and archenemy of Elfilin.
During an incident in the laboratory, Fecto Elfilis was split into two halves of itself; the good, compassionate half named Elfilin, and the evil, invasive half known as Fecto Forgo, who serves as the overarching antagonist. To become whole again, Fecto Forgo manipulated Leongar and the Beast Pack in order to capture Elfilin and make preparations for their reawakening, and later assimilates them before they merge with Elfilin in order to return to their true form.
Appearance[]
Fecto Elfilis[]
Fecto Elfilis bears similarity to their halves Fecto Forgo and Elfilin, their pelt teal in coloration most prominently sharing likeness to the two. They have a slender build with incredibly long, lanky limbs and a very slim torso with orange fur in the belly region. Their gnarled hands are huge, sporting long, purple nails bearing likeness to those of a human's in their bluntness. Their legs resemble that of a generic mammalian hind leg with undefined nubs for feet. They sport a fluffy orange collar that drapes down to their hips in the back, similarly to a scarf or a cape. They have a long, scraggly, fox-like tail with an orange tip.
They exhibit golden horns that curve inwards, four tiny spikes protruding out of each horn in the inner part. Where the horn is connected to the head begins an alternating yellow and orange pattern marking up to the tip of their snout. They have feelers on each side of their head, similar to those found on Fecto Forgo's larva form, albeit Fecto Elfilis' are longer. Their eyes have purple scleras with blue irises and purple pupils. Their gigantic wing-like ears follow a serrated pattern, with the outer rim of their ears are the same teal as their base pelt with a few spiked tufts sticking out, with the inner ears flaunting a vibrant red and yellow coloration, purple blood vessels being visible, while tip of the feather-like protrusions at the bottom of their ears are purple and end in black. They hover on the ground and fly through the air as opposed to walking. After Elfilin is removed from them, their form to becomes unstable, causing their colors appear dampened and their body to drip liquid as if they are made of wet ink.
They wield a spear which resembles a caduceus, the end has a red bulb with three vine-like rods extending upwards and the bluish-green part being the core with red and yellow rods twisting around it. The segment it is held with is twisted so tightly that it simply merges as one before separating around the caduceus end. The red and yellow wing-like structures from one side of the caduceus each have blue hypnotic patterns on them while the teal part extends to the tip of the spear and is covered by a blue spearhead.
Fecto Forgo[]
When they turn into Fecto Forgo, they look like a goopy hideous chimera with the heads of four Sssnackers, a Poison Croakum, a Primal Awoofy, a Digguh, a Balloon-Meister, an Orabiroo, a Gnawcodile and Leongar. who head now has the ear of a Bernard and the horn of a Buffahorn
Chaos Elfilis[]
As Chaos Elfilis, they appear similar to their previous form, Fecto Elfilis, except their first form now has white fur and red markings. Much like their Fecto Elfilis form, their head has helix-like horns (now bright red) and a head similar to that of an axolotl. The tuft of fur around their neck is now a lemon yellow color, their sclera are black with pink glowing eyes and their wing-like ears are black with blood red and white patterns and yellow dots, akin to a moth. Their spear is now golden at the top with the handle being dark red transitioning into black.
After being defeated, the entity's core emerges from their back, and must be forced out with Mouthful Mode. After pulling the core out, the entity's original body disintegrates and turns into to a number of smaller, blood red orbs that orbit the sphere. Their core is an orb that is colored in blood red on the outside with a lemon yellow and cyan inside, with a star-like core which is white in color. Whenever the core takes damage, it glitches out.
Personality[]
Fecto Elfilis is an evil, bloodthirsty, sinister, and cruel being who would do anything to achieve their goals. However, as shown with Elfilin, Fecto Elfilis still has a small, compassionate soul that hid behind its greater, invasive ambitions. Then as Fecto Forgo, they're shown to be manipulative, intelligent and stealthy, manipulating the Beast Pack into serving them and opening a wormhole to gain access to a supply of Waddle Dees to enslave through King Dedede. They're willing to use brute force if necessary, should their plan fail, showing no mercy when assimilating those who serve them and chasing Kirby and Elfilin down to assimilate Elfilin as well. They are also spiteful, as shown by attempting to collide Planet Popstar and the Forgotten Land after Kirby took separated Elfilin from them again, which would eventually lead to Fecto Elfilis's death.
They are also very persistent; even the destruction of their body didn't stop them from carrying out their plans. Instead, their soul, which was still intact, merely retreated to a dream world of their creation, took Leongar with them and came up with a completely different plan in order to return and resume their plans. After being absorbed by Morpho Knight, who was defeated by Kirby, they absorb Morpho Knight's power and took on an even more powerful form that they were still determined to defeat Kirby with.
It is heavily implied that Fecto Elfilis' psyche was heavily afected by having to repeatedly hear the automatic recorded tour speech during the years it spent trapped alone at Lab Discovera, as the announcer's speech is reapeatedly heard and distorted at the Forgo Isles within their subconciousness, in particular the phrase "And Here we are!" is repeated multiple times often with a distorting effect that makes it sound more disturbing, this even happens during the final battle against Chaos Elfilis when their soul core is exposed.
Biography[]
Past[]
Fecto Elfilis' exact origins and goals is unknown. What was known is that they were a malevolent alien being that likely invaded numerous worlds, leaving behind nothing but destruction and carnage in their wake.
Long ago, they attempted to invade a world similar to Earth; specifically the area that would be known as the Forgotten Land. But by unknown means, the inhabitants managed to subdue the creature, containing them within a science facility known as Lab Discovera. There, they were studied due to their ability to create interdimensional rifts. As such, the entity's powers were harnessed by the inhabitants of the Forgotten Land to invent intergalactic travel. 30 years later, however, an incident occurred during an experiment, in which Elfilis was split into two halves. Their compassionate, good half became Elfilin, who escaped in the aftermath, while their evil, invasive half became Fecto Forgo, who remained trapped in the Eternal Capsule. The inhabitants eventually decided to depart from their homeworld to settle in a "land of dreams", leaving their planet, as well as Fecto Forgo in Lab Discovera, behind.
After the inhabitants left, the native animals then formed their own society, with the mighty lion, Leon as their leader. Seeking to become whole again, Fecto Forgo brainwashed Leon into becoming their servant. Leon, renamed as "Leongar", then reformed his society as the Beast Pack, convincing them that if they helped Fecto Forgo to become whole once more, they would allow the pack to ascend as the inhabitants of the Forgotten Lands had before.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land[]
Using their powers, Fecto Forgo opened a dimensional rift to Dream Land on the Planet Popstar, which then began sucking up its denizens into the Forgotten Land. These included the little pink hero Kirby, along with Bandana Waddle Dee and many others of his kind, as well as Meta Knight and King Dedede. Afterwards, Leongar had the pack round up the citizens of Dreamland in order to use them in preparation for their plans. The Waddle Dees were hunted down and put into cages to be brought to Lab Discovera, where they were enslaved as a workforce to power the laboratory to full capacity. Many others, including King Dedede, were brainwashed into becoming members of the Beast Pack and help hunt down the Waddle Dees. Meta Knight's strong will allowed him to resist mind-control, allowing him to escape to Waddle Dee Town, which he protects from the Beast Pack while honing his skills at the coliseum.
The pack also attempted to capture Elfilin in order to remerge him with Fecto Forgo, but Kirby was able to intervene and save him. Together, they traveled through the Forgotten Land, freeing every Waddle Dee they could find while defeating the Beast Pack. However, King Dedede had managed to capture Elfilin and brought him to Lab Discovera for the remerging process. Before Fecto Forgo could merge with him, Kirby fought his way to the lab, defeating Leongar and freeing Elfilin. Furious that their plans had been halted, Fecto Forgo breaks free from the Eternal Capsule and assimilates Leongar along with several other members of the Beast Pack to become a hideous slimy chimera. Fecto Forgo chased after Kirby and Elfilin until they were defeated by Kirby, but despite this, they were able to survive, and they proceed to assimilate Elfilin in order to return to their true form: Fecto Elfilis.
Fecto Elfilis then attempted to invade the Forgotten Land once more, but Kirby was able to beat the entity and free Elfilin from them. With their body becoming unstable since Elfilin was no longer inside them, Fecto Elfilis, out of pure spite, created a wormhole to Planet Popstar and attempted to collide the planet into the Forgotten Lands. Seeing Kirby turn into a truck, they attempt to crush him with asteroids, but it failed. They were then defeated by Kirby and Elfilin using their combined might in order to defeat them.
Post-Game[]
In the game's post-game area, it is revealed that Fecto Elfilis managed to reform themselves as Soul Forgo, with the realm itself being a product of their dreams during their imprisonment. Shattering Leongar's soul as they continued to scheme, Kirby and Elfilin find out about their realm through the aid of Clawroline, with the heroes venturing through it to revive Leongar. After all the pieces of Leongar's soul are collected, Soul Forgo possesses Leongar once more in an attempt to destroy Kirby and Elfilin. However, they are defeated and forcefully ejected from Leongar's body, with their soul being consumed by a butterfly just as they were about to fight Kirby.
However, this was not the end of Fecto Elfilis' reign of terror, as upon Morpho Knight's defeat at the hands of Kirby, the entity manages to restore themselves into a new form known as Chaos Elfilis, once again trying to end Kirby's life and continue on with their plans of invasion. Despite a brutal final fight, Chaos Elfilis is eventually slain once and for all. They shatter into particles of light, with the last bit of life that remained willingly returning to Elfilin.
Gameplay[]
Fecto Elfilis Battle (Story Mode)[]
Fecto's first phase is an auto-scrolling stage, where Kirby and Elfilin have to keep their distance from the hideous slimy chimera's massive body. Fecto Forgo can attack with a lunging bite and throwing goop balls, leaving behind stars that Kirby can pick up with his inhale and throw back. Upon being defeated in this form, they assimilate Elfilin, thus returning to their true form, Fecto Elfilis.
Fecto Elfilis, can attack with a spear and summon dimensional rifts to hurl meteors. These attacks leave behind stars that Kirby can pick up and throw back at them with his inhale. After they sustain enough damage, Fecto Elfilis will collapse. Kirby can then wrench Elfilin out of their body with his Mouthful Mode, but has to be quick as Fecto Elfilis' spear will perform a charge attack at him to skewer him.
The final phase of the fight has Kirby use his Mouthful Mode ability on a truck. Kirby must run over a highway while dodging obstacles and going as fast as possible. Upon reaching the end, Kirby will charge in Fecto Elfilis' direction, trying to smash the entity with his huge body. Fecto Elfilis will counter with a massive laser beam, so the player must mash to counter this. Elfilin will provide Kirby his own power to give him an advantage. Upon getting past this and a giant asteroid, Kirby has to ram Fecto Elfilis in order to finally defeat them.
Chaos Elfilis Battle (Ultimate Cup Z)[]
Fecto is fought in two separate rounds this time. Its first phase where they were a hideous slimy chimera has been changed to a separate fight in the penultimate round, with their second and penultimate phases as Fecto Elfilis being retooled into the final round, with the Mouthful Mode omitted, as Elfilin is not absorbed into the monster's body. A harder version called Chaos Elfilis, which uses similar albeit more complex attacks to blindside the player, appears at the hardest level. Since Elfilin is not part of Chaos Elfilis' body, he does not have to be forced out with a Mouthful Mode. In his place is an orb that turns out to be Chaos Elfilis' core which must instead be forced out. Upon being wrenched out of the entity's body, their core will attack with shadowy boomerangs, fiery charges, laser beams from the blood-red orbs surrounding it, and even trying to devour Kirby with a black hole-esque attack.
