“ | The vicious warriors of Elbaph... who conquered the New World long, long ago... will be brought under the command of the World Government, once and for all!!! | „ |
~ Shamrock declaring Elbaph will be under the World Government's control. |
Figarland Shamrock is a major antagonist in the One Piece franchise. He is the son of Saint Figarland Garling and the older twin brother of Shanks, as well as the commander of the God's Knights, who was sent to Elbaph along with Gunko to ensure the World Government's domination over the nation of Giants.
Like his brother, he is voiced by Shūichi Ikeda in the Japanese version of the anime and by Brandon Potter in its English dub.
Appearance[]
Shamrock is virtually identical to his younger twin brother, their only differences being his hair style, lack of scars, and possessing both arms. Indeed, he was mistaken for his brother by the giants of Elbaf. However, he only resembled Shanks if his whole face isn't seen.
He wears a long black cloak to conceal himself when traveling, and underneath wears a military uniform fit for his high-ranking aristocracy.
Personality[]
Shamrock, like his father and all other Celestial Dragons thinks very highly of himself and looks down on the rest of the world, believing all non-World Nobles to be common riff raff regardless of if they're even royalty.
Despite this, he is nowhere near as aggressive or boisterous about his status as the others tend to be and usually can remain calm even in increasingly sour situations. Once his patience has ended however he is capable of great malice and cruelty, shown when he was wholly willing to torture and kill Loki's pets to try and force the prince to join the Knights, and then Loki himself after his repeated refusals.
Regarding his relationship with his brother, he appears to view him as lowly not only for being a pirate and discarding his heritage as a World Noble. He also expressed disgusted for his preference of staying in what Shamrock viewed as a "filthy world" and considered Shanks to be estranged. However, he had no qualms revealing their relationship when pressed on it.
Biography[]
Past[]
39 years ago, Shamrock was born as the oldest twin boy in the Figarland family. 38 years ago, Shamrock was separated from his younger brother who had disappeared from God Valley and ended up with the Roger Pirates. At one point, his brother discovered his heritage and returned home but renounced his heritage in favor of his life as a pirate and love for humanity. Shamrock would go onto nurse a negative view towards his brother.
As an adult, he followed him in the footsteps of his father in joining the God Knights. Eventually, he worked his way up to the rank of commander.
Levely Arc[]
A hooded Shamrock appears during the Levely, where he had a brief meeting with the Five Elders. He wanted to speak to them about a certain pirate who was on his mind.
Elbaph Arc[]
Shamrock and Gunko both appeared on Elbaph through teleportation from a magic circle. They both leave the castle to try and locate Loki with the intentions of recruiting him into becoming a member of the Holy Knights. Shamrock and Gunko both encounter two giants. As Gunko asks them if they could help locate Loki and they refused, Gunko attacks and orders them to tell them where he is located. Shamrock and Gunko makes it to the Underworld level of Elbaph to offer Loki a chance to join them to which the latter declined and states that he did not want to join scum. One of Loki's pets attempted to attack them until Gunko restrained it. Shamrock asked Loki that if they spare his wolf would be join them. Loki states that he wish the wolf peace in death and that he will take the anger of this moment to help fuel him towards his goal of destroying the world.
After some time pass, Gunko continues to beat and torture Loki into joining the Holy Knights. Loki adamantly refuses which leads to Gunko beating him unconscious and attacking the animals nearby. Eventually, Shamrock orders her to stop and pulls back his cloak and tells Gunko that she should contact Mary Geoise since their initial plan did not go according to their plans and that they intend to force Elbaph to be under rule of the World Government.
As he and Gunko begin to leave, Loki questions why Shamrock resembled Shanks though Gunko tells him that he did not have to answer but Loki noted it would not be coincidence for their similar faces. Shamrock tells him of his relationship to Shanks and how they were separated as children. He voices his distaste for Shanks coming to love humanity, while Loki notes that both brothers earned his hatred. Loki tells Shamrock that he will get vengeance on him when he released. In response to what Loki said, Shamrock takes out his sword called Cerberus and unleashes three canines with swords in their mouths at Loki to severely harm him. Shamrock tells Loki that if he survives the attack he will look forward to their fight before leaving with Gunko. Shamrock tells Gunko that they will need to summon one other Holy Knight to aid them in their plans.
He and Gunko lands in a forest. Gunko summons two Holy Knights, Shepherd Sommers and Rimoshifu Killingham. Shamrock receives an order to return to Mary Geoise. However, Shamrock informs the two Holy Knights about their mission on the island. As Shamrock and the other Holy Knights look at the giant children, Shamrock contemplates an idea for the Holy Knights.
