Black Heron is the secondary antagonist in the 2017 DuckTales reboot series. She is the second-in-command and co-founder of the notorious criminal organization FOWL as well as the longtime archenemy of Bentina Beakley.
She was voiced by April Winchell, who also voiced Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatians: The Series, Ma Duskerton in Gravity Falls, Clarabelle Cow in Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers and Hypnotheria in Teamo Supremeo.

Background[]
Nothing, including her real name, is known about Black Heron's background, although she was mentioned to have once been a chemist and eventually she got training in martial arts before turning to a life of crime, having long decided that having morality or empathy was meaningless and that world domination is all about embracing one's inner villain.
F.O.W.L.[]
Getting started[]
Sometime in the 1960s, Beakley, then known as Agent 22, brought in Black Heron after she tried to carve her face into Mount Neverest. While in jail, she was approached by a S.H.U.S.H accountant named Bradford Buzzard. He suggested the idea of an organization named OWL (Organization for World Larceny) to her for them to use it to take over the world from the shadows. Heron liked the idea but wanted to add an F (standing for fiendish) at the beginning.
Bradford didn't like the idea as he believed his plan is not evil, but when Heron refused to help if it is not renamed, Bradford reluctantly accepted. Bradford then released Heron, telling her they will meet up later before faking a breakout to keep his cover. The two then formed the organization, with Bradford acting as the shadowy leader and Heron as the field agent. At one point, Black Heron lost her right arm, presumably in one of her missions. Bradford later had it replaced with a mechanical one.
Later on, they sought the Papyrus of Binding together, but Scrooge transcribed an order that only his last living descendant would ever find it. Black Heron fell off a ledge and lost her cybernetic arm in the process, leaving Scrooge and his family to presume she was dead.
Meeting Webby[]
She first appeared in the season 1 episode, "The Confidential Casefiles of Agent 22". During what is presumably one of FOWL's first big missions, Black Heron is presumably tasked under Bradford's orders with getting the recipe for an ancient potion (the Gummi Berry Juice) that FOWL (likely Bradford) wanted to use to make an army of super soldiers. She first tries to buy it, Due to Scrooge's a freelance agent working for S.H.U.S.H's unwillingness to offer any cash from his own pocket, Black Heron won the page with her bid Though she steals it anyway. Before she can escape, however Beakley plants a tracker on her so they can follow her.
Heron starts working on mass producing the potion at some point during it Beakley made her way to the top floor of Heron's lab, but unfortunately mistook Heron for Scrooge in the darkness, and is then knocked unconscious by Heron. She then starts recording a video announcing FOWL plans to all the world leaders, but is annoyed at constantly being interrupted by Beakley. While continuing her speech, it is interrupted by Scrooge when he laughed beside her about how she's actually making a bouncing serum, which Heron thinks is still useful and a fight breaks out.
Beakley is eventually able to escape using the serum and infuriated, Heron dashed towards her, but missed and instead caused an explosive liquid to spill across the table, and be ignited due to its mixture with the spilled bouncing serums destroying all her serum as well as the recipe book. Heron tries to use her right arm to grab any surviving serum only for another explosion to go off, causing her to lose it.
Bradford Buzzard's announcement[]
Black Heron appears in the season finale, "Moonvasion", emerging from the shadows when Bradford announced FOWL will come out of the shadows.
Making the Intelli-Ray[]
In "Double-O-Duck in You Only Crash Twice!", Black Heron uses the Third Eye Diamond to develop the Intelli-Ray that she has previously used on animals, including the would-be Rescue Rangers, in order to decrease Scrooge's intelligence. Later, she sends Steelbeak to get rid of the Duck family upon learning that they're visiting Funso's Fun Zone, which FOWL's headquarter is located at. Steelbeak successfully imprisons two of Scrooge's companions, Heron is angered as she knows Scrooge would find them. As a result, she berates Steelbeak only for him to turn the Intelli-Ray against her, reducing her to a blathering idiot. Steelbeak then carries the plan on his own but fails. Afterwards, Bradford restores Heron's intelligence but berates both her and Steelbeak.
Picking up Bradford[]
In "Let's Get Dangerous!", when Bradford is in danger at the hands of Taurus Bulba, he calls Black Heron for help. She arrives just in time to rescue him with a helicopter with FOWL's logo on it, exposing Bradford's connection with FOWL to the Duck family.
Altercation with Scrooge[]
In "The Split Sword of Swanstantine!", Black Heron confronts Scrooge and his companions on Istanbird, engaging in a battle with Scrooge while her fellow FOWL members try to claim the Sword of Swanstantine's pieces. She eventually forces Scrooge to surrender and handle the pieces, but surprisingly, they the resembled weapon flies back to Scrooge as it turns out it only serve those with inner strength. Fearing for their lives, Heron and her comrades flee.
The last stand, death, and legacy[]
In the series finale, "The Last Adventure!", Black Heron and Bradford create May and June from Webby's feathers to spy on Scrooge and get the Papyrus of Binding, as only Scrooge's heirs can use it. After successfully forcing Scrooge to surrender, Bradford attempts to write a contract in the Papyrus, but Scrooge points out to him that he has to kill his henchmen too to follow its rules. As a result, Bradford throws his two clones Bentley and Buford and Black Heron herself into the Solego Vortex. While falling, Heron compliments Bradford's villainy before reaching the vortex, erasing her from existence for good.
Personality[]
An extremely intelligent and resourceful middle-aged woman, Black Heron is actually a picture-perfect image of megalomania, and she has an extremely brilliant and charismatic personality, though it is often overlooked thanks to her horrifically unstable ego and low morality, as well as her egoistical nature of pure malevolence and megalomania, thereby making Black Heron as malevolent as she is charming. Furthermore, Black Heron's attempts to acquire power imply psychopathy, as they are extremely immoral and ruthless, with her having little care for the methods she uses, or their impact on others. Black Heron takes pride in her cunning, usually sadistically thinking of others as her inferiors and pawns, especially Scrooge McDuck. At the end of the day, her ultimate goal is to rule over Earth with an iron fist, although her undoing came when her own partner in crime, Bradford Buzzard, inhumanely betrayed her and subjected her to a fate worse than death, due to her having insidiously sculpted the very mindset that deemed it acceptable to end her life so ruthlessly and cruelly.

- Her present day outfit is a darker colored version of what she wore in the sixties, minus the white trim on her dress; likely a symbolic way of saying she mellowed out under Bradford's guidance. While still an egomaniac, Heron was now more in favor of Bradford's subterfuge methods unless direct confrontation was necessary.
- She kidnaps Beakley to torture for the Gummi Bear formula; no ransom, no gloating.
- She tricked the McDuck family into thinking FOWL wanted the sword of swanstantine; in truth, hey wanted Webby's DNA to make May and June.
- She berates and outright calls Steelbeak an idiot for locking up Huey and Launchpad in their lair; nearly blowing their cover, because they thought it was part of a 3D game and the stupidity ray.
- Heron named the Protocol to blow up FOWL's main base after herself.
- Despite roughly being in her eighties (assuming she was mid-twenties in the 1960s), Heron is quite able-bodied, with only a slouch in her posture showing her age. It's possible her cybernetic enhancements slowed down her aging, as she had noticeable wrinkles under her eyes and around her neck.
- The revelation, that Heron created Webby using Scrooge's DNA, makes her the third antagonist of the reboot DuckTales, who have created one of the series' protagonists. The first antagonist was Magica De Spell (created Lena from her shadow), and the second - Dr. Akita (built B.O.Y.D., alongside with Gyro).
