President Alan Richmond is the main antagonist of the movie Absolute Power. He is the President of the United States, who murders his mistress.
He is portrayed by Gene Hackman, who also portrayed Lex Luthor in the Christopher Reeve Superman films, Little Bill Daggett in Unforgiven, General Mandible in Antz, and John Herod in The Quick and the Dead.
He believes that everything he does is beyond reproach, including an affair or two. He does have an affair with a woman named Christy, a billionaire's wife. However one, after Richmond getting drunk, he then slaps her around and tries to strangle her. When she attacks him with a letter opener, Secret Service agents Bill Burton (Scott Glenn) and Tim Collin (Dennis Haysbert) shoot her to death. Chief of Staff Gloria Russell (Judy Davis) arrives and makes the scene appear as if a burglar killed Sullivan's wife. However unbeknownst to any of them, Luther Whitney (Clint Eastwood), a master jewel thief, who decided to do one more job before retiring, witness the murder.
